I got my mkII console which I have to agree feels better, but after using the first version of DJC for quite some time, I developed a routine, I got used to the original functionality of the buttons, so I would like if possible, to remap the source assignment buttons for the MKII in cue/preview buttons, I would never use external sources through the console, If I need to play a CD I will load it in to my computer cdrom drive, so I can live with the console permanently assigned to mix only the pc content.
Now if anybody already did this or has the knowledge of doing this and feel like sharing I would like to thank you in advance.
Here I would like to share with you my knowledge about the improvements of MKII.
After I played with it for few days I was surprised about the reactivity of the buttons, no more hit or miss for the cue and play buttons and also the jog wheels felt better with no play and a smooth glide, so I decided to take them apart to see what is new. The MKII's guts looks completely redesigned with different boards and components, anyway what is significant is that the button board is having now four points of contact for play and cue instead of just two points of contact in the first version, also it looked like all the contact points for the MKII are gold plated. Another change is that the two cursors in MKII are no longer having a mid stop position, so you can use them for adjusting the decks volume and use the top knobs for pitch, the truth is that is a lot easier to get fine adjustments of o.1bpm increments with the plotted infinite turn knobs. You are going to miss the midi ports, the optical and spdif in/out and two channels, now MKII is down to two stereo output channels, but you'll get two stereo rca inputs and a new knob which selects headphones modes as deck a, deck b, split and mix, also now you can use turtables in direct input by turning the back two switches in phono mode for each of the stereo inputs.

You can check this PLUGIN: DJC Mapper v.20 from
http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/view.html?type=sound%20effect
It runs a new soft at same time you open VDJ, and you can remap all the buttons: works right!
Always is on when you restart VDJ, but stays background.
Hope this help you.

Thank you, the mapper is cool but is not going to fix my problem, it looks like for MKII console Hercules changed the function "select" at the hardware level and I don't want to start modifying the mother board. Is hard to understand why they choose to alter the functionality of the select buttons and changed the preview function on the new headphone front knob without luminous feedback. My MKII has the select buttons locked from the Hercules mixer software, so now they are not used, I didn't want to take any chance to have my live mix stopped by accidentally changing sources, maybe in MKIII they will make it wright again, till then I will struggle with my MKI putting up with the play /stop button’s hit or miss symptom, or maybe Hercules will offer an upgrade kit for MKI with a new button board with gold plated contacts and a new set of buttons with four points of contact, and a set of new jog wheels with the new improved precision bushings. With a kit like that the MKI will be a very good controller, Hercules made clear their position about a pro grade console, they are not aiming for that, but we can hope at least they'll listen and consider the suggestions of their clients, us, the users.

Hi DJLex,
On DJ Console 1, solving the lack of response of the Play/Cue buttons is not complicated.
- remove the screws on the ground side (below the red rubber feet)
- split DJ Console in 2 half parts, 1 for the ground side, 1 for the top
- on the top panel, remove the rotary knobs on the volume and EQ potentiometers
- on the reverse side of the top panel, remove the screws attaching the printed circuit board and the top panel
- separate the top panel of the printed circuit board, and take off the keypads with the Play Cue buttons
- wash the black carbon contact areas below the Play/Cue buttons (2 contact areas for each) with White Spirit
- reassemble the console carefully, and take care all keypads are in place and you don't screw too hard the multi-direction stick/mushroom, so that it can still move
An that's it, you have washed the contacts below the Play/Cue buttons, which work well again.
