Topic: how good/bad is sound card in Hercules MK2?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hercules website doesn't list any details as far as sound quality.

Does anyone know how good/bad of a soundcard is in MK2?
I'm planning on upgrading to either DAC-3 or two XP10, plus either Maya or Gigaport sound card later on (a lot of money), so I would like to know how long can I last with this MK2.
I'm using external mixer already.

Another question - can I use VDJ (pro version) and decent audio card with MK2? I really like MK2's control (for the price).

Thanks!

I use the MK2 as a soundcard in 2 different configurations, the sound "quality" I feel is excelent, I use it in my Time Coded CD Set up, it works great because of its low latency. I also use it as a stand alone controller for VDJ, and works great also.

I also have the DAC3, my main reason for upgrading to a rack mounted controller is for a more professional look, the MK2 is a great little controller/soundcard....cant beat it, Its a vital part of my system, and from what I've read here the sound quality is excelent. If you do a search on the MK2 vs other cards you might come across more information.

The second part of your question - you dont need another soundard, unless you want to, for VDJ Pro, the MK2 works good. Maya is very popular choice, Gigaport, from what Ive read is useless for Time Coded Vinly of Time Coced CD, Not sure if you were ever planning to use those, but the Gigaport will not work, MK2 will.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks mzack,

that answers my questions - I'll use MK2 as my main soundcard (and external mixer). I'm not planning to use vinyls at all.

Yes, I'm with you too about the more professional look of DAC-3, but the cost is just a killer right now - it's 350 for DAC-3 (on ebay), plus 150 for soundcard (unless I use MK2 for that), plus extra $100 for VDJ Pro. Well, that I'll get anyway later on (I need mapping plugin), but still 500$+ for practically same stuff.
If anyone needs to look at "professional" setup, have a look at my Pioneer DJM-400 :)
