Hi, I'd like to purchase a new graphics card to mix video with VDJ. I've found a Gigabyte Silent Pipe 6600GT but it only has DDR2, does DDR3 make that much difference, has anyone out there used a DDR2 card with success?
Thanks for any replies.

ddr3 is faster, but ddr2 is good enough as well, I've heard the video card you mention works without problems, regards.

Thanks for that! I'm going to get one and try it out.

Wow! The card works flawlessly, not a dropped frame in sight. Best thing is, it runs completely silent and is perfect for my HTPC too! A nice budget card I recommend to anyone who wants to use VDJ for video mixing.

I think the story on ddr3 is it operates at a lower voltage and creates less heat because of it, beside being faster.

Well, I guess that's another advantage that ddr3 has.

In fact DDR3 it's better because of that, less voltage and more speed. If we pick a graphics card it's better to pick a N-Vidia GT (6600GT, 7600GT, 7800GT ot 7900GT ot GTX) or the new 7950GX2 all of those has DDR3 and at least 256MB of VRAM.
If you like ATI, then you can pick from X1400 to X1900 and DDR2 because this cards came like that, but if they came with DDR3 Took IT. 256MB of VRAM are good too.
