i heard somewhere that u could connect a camera to vdj to show live feed of the club on the screen ...how is that done ? all i see is a feature to scratch with a web cam .also i don't see karaoke button either.
can some one point this out for me ...thankx in advance

As for the Karaoke button, maybe you are thinking of some inferior DJ software ;) in which a karaoke file is treated differently than any other media file and requires a special player or a special button to indicate that it is a karaoke file.
In VDJ, it is much simpler. If an MP3 has a matching CDG file, then it is treated as a karaoke and its associated lyrics are displayed in the video screen. Additionally, you can have the MP3 and CDG contained together in a .ZIP file and it will see that as a karaoke as if the files were unzipped in that folder.

So I gave this a try using my sony mini dv camera hooked up via firewire - the video screen was just a garbled mess. I tried messing with the settings, but no luck. Any ideas?

I'm using a sony handycam DCR-HC20 - it's got ports for firewire and usb. Not a bad price either!
