Well i did a wedding last night and 4.1 gave me absolutly no problems at all. Im using it with my cdj800's and a maya usb44. I just cant understand why the serato guys look down on this software so much. Since 4.0 it has NOT crashed once at all and the time code seems dead on. I actually had bought serato to see what the hype was about and returned it because i was very dissapointed!!!

Add my name to the list of people who played out last night with four one and it worked absolutely perfectly. I used my SSL box as soundcard with two TEchnics 1210s and VDJ timecode Vinyl. Beautiful. I;ve just done an early evening reggae two hour set and it went great too.

Laptop with audio only.

Superb sound

Don't go building the size of their (VDJ team) heads just yet!!!

4.1 did give me audibly a solid gig last night at a wedding, but....and I mean BUT!!!! there are issues.

First off, I still haven't got an answer at all about using TCV and my Maya44 usb, so it only works on the right deck only and will not respond at all in Single Timecode mode.

Next, try this one out. Hook up a DAC-2 controller. Pretty minimal functions mapped out for it to begin with, but if you put VDJ into automix mode (I did this during cocktail hour while I was watching for the B&G to arrive so I could line up the introducitons) and then when you take it out of automix mode, the DAC-2 no longer responds to anything. The display goes crazy too when you put it in automix mode. Normally, the display reads kind of weird anyway, but it went crazy.

example: Normal display looks like 4 004300 124 - which would be Com 4, 4:30 long song and 124bpm. it changed to something like 062124008 which I have no clue what the heck that is. Took it out of automix mode, loaded a new song which should have made it read as before and it just gave me ----- and that was the end of that. F-key time.

So...flawless....NO EVEN! Better than before, in some ways, good sound, but by no means flawless.

DAC2 needs to be fixed for 4.1...

Currently mapper on the way...

Loosing tc? hmm not sure what that can be...

I don't think VDJ could ever be better, i'm trying to think what else I could ask the team for but there's nothing. The sound engine upgrade was just TOO major. I'm loving it. Perfect gig with not even one glitch, studder, skip or anything. All with key lock on. 5 hours straight, with TCV's, effect's, samples, everything. Ooooh lord. It was like an orgasm.

I'm not one of those Serato guys you're talking about but VDJ 4.1 works fine for me too using audio only. The recent post I made was about mixing videos only. Also, to be clear, the program never crashed on me. Audio stopped only once and that was because the left side stopped reading timecode. The other post I made about timecode was mostly personal preferrence issues but there are a few genuine bugs in TCV operation. The other issues I have are not bugs at all.

Also, I've said it here before and I'll say it again. The average "computer DJ", someone who already uses a computer to DJ is probably not going to like Serato very much. Especially if they get use to all the features and functionality of VDJ, none of which exists in Serato.

Serato does however excel with vinyl DJs and club DJs who want a program that emulates real vinyl and stability as it's number one priority and focuses on features entirely secondarily.

You guys must have compatible sound cards, because I managed to lock up my whole computer with 4.1 to the point where I have to do a hard shutdown of the computer. Ouch... My sound card used to work flawlessly with 3.4 but 4.1 does not like my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ASIO's driver at all.

When it does work, the sound gets scratchy and crackles even with a high latency. With Version 3.4 I could set it to 2ms with no problems.

Not to metion the BCD2000 control and LED light issues. I went from B-DJ to VDJ 4.1 and the way the BCD2000 works is different, but in a negative way. I like how smoothly it works with B-DJ but it lacks the power of Virtual DJ and the price I paid for it. :-)

Play with the B-DJ 1.1 software and see what I mean.

If you're talking about crashes, no I have not had that...unless I messed up somehow. Just minor bugs that are things I think being noted and fixed. I see there is one fix for the DAC-2 now, but I'm not sure it addresses the issue I came across in automix mode or not. We'll find out soon enough.

I've never had the pops, skips or hickups that PCDJ has always had with VDJ. I have ran a video party 2 times per week for a year now with each night being 5-6 hours in length and have not had one single problem doing so.

I only have issues with the Single Timecode mode for TCV and the issue with the DAC-2 at the moment. Oh yeah... the KEYCHANGER stinks!!!! Garbled sound just about all of the time. Tried it on 3 different sound cards now and get the same problem on them all.

For those having DAC 2 problems try moving the power supply to the unit to one that is not connected to your sound system. I was having the same problems with the DAC losing communication and when I moved my computer and DAC power supplies to a different outlet which is on a seperate circuit the problems went away. Just a shot in the dark.
