I have a Dell Latitude Laptop.
W/ Pentium 3 750mhz
256mb RAM
40GB HD
56k/ NIC
For some reason the songs take a "Minute" to load. I use a firewire based soundcard and use external HD for my music, connected via USB (am afraid putting them to my computer coz of slowing down).
someone help! is my computer slow!!!!!!

Not much you can do , maybe buy more ram
Dell P3's are usually a socket 370 Cpu (not soldered) so u can get a mobile 1.13ghz p3 off ebay, (make sure urs is socketable first)
But even after the upgrades you'll find that saving for a P4 or AMD equal and above is worth the wait

is it taking that long for mp3s or for videos ?
you might also have a slower usb port, 1.1, for your ext. hdd
newer models have usb 2.0
a lot faster
