Topic: After reading history of house music, I'm confused

I have no clue what syle I am. Is it possible to be mixed up between many different styles? If I gave some artists that I play, could you give me an idea where I am standing or leading>

Doc this is from the heart, after years of experience....JUST BE YOU! Don't try to define your style..if what you are doing is working then relax and have fun.
 
if you play multiple genres like me (house, techno, trance, gabber (and all the house related genres), rap, R&B, pop, rock) just call yourself a generalist DJ. spinning pretty much anything that comes out on vinyl or CD.
 
You can use www.dancerecords.com or www.juno.co.uk , search for your tracks and see what genre it is ;)
 
just say you play:

Funkeduptechnodrivenhardstylebassheavygoadrivenhouse with cheese on top.

I agre with the guys above. Just play what you want, or more importantly the crowd wants

just admit it your a "SLUT DJ" just like me, i play all sorts of music styles throughout the night keeps me and everyone else happy so enjoy what your doing...i think i've just coined a new phrase for djs without a particular hat to wear so put your hands up if your a SLUT...lol

Doc now in days a good DJ must be versitle with music. The time of a only House or only Hip Hop DJ are just about gone. Today's DJ must be able to incorporate various style/tecniques and genres in his/her sets. Unless you are planning on playing only in a Genre based club or party. But the most important thing is to be you. Too many DJs out there copying style and techniques. You have to feel it in your heart...it is about feeling...
