Ok, I own the Technics 1210 M5G's Grandmaster's (yeah I know bad a$$) and the Pioneer CDJ 1000's. I have been using Virtual DJ (VV) doing all video at my residencies for about 3 months now. I currently do video three nights a week. I wanted the most stable feel that I could have with Timecode since I was venturing into a new program and beginning to do video. Now since all of the Timecode updates, stability fixes and next gen wax, I want to switch over to the 12's! I need that allure and feel and think that it will make my video shows more exciting, keeping me more involved. I am currently using the Sure M44-7 cartridges with the Tech's headshells and they are great but I'm curious to see what others here are using, SO:
1. What type of Needles do you use?
2. If you were to recommend a set what would they be? (Think if money wasn't much of an object)
3. Ever try the Ortofon Digitracks? (I use to use the Concords and liked them) What did you think?
Thanks for your input!

Since i needed new ones anyway i bought the Ortofon Digitrack, however i think there`s no big difference to "normal" Ortofon ones. I used "DJ-E" (the blue ones) for years and they performed great as well.
So don`t ask me if the "Digitrack" are marketing only, i can`t tell you ;)

Yeah used "the blue ones" as well :P
The only thing i have to say is that you have to replace the needle a little too often :)

I have the Sure M44-7 cartridges. too. These are the best needlz for djing with timecode because the have the loudest output. All the djs i know (no matter what style) change to the Sure M44-7 since the do digital turntabling (and many use before the ortofon needlz). I think the Sure M44-7 cartridges recommended in the serato scratch dokumentation (a house dj tells me this, he change from ortofon to sure after many years, before he do digital turntablist he laugh about my preferred sure needlz.
And when you do hiphop (like me) and scratch, this needlz never jump:)
By the way: The ortofon needlz are very good too, but i think shure is a little better, so why do a change?

So what do you think? How do they compare to others?

Just checking my options. Basically I'm looking for input from users that have tried different options with Timecode. Someone who has owned and tried a few different sets of needles. I personally have only used the 44-7's with Timecode, but have used many others with normal vinyl.

Im ill today, so a do a little test in studio with some hommies. We tried the shure system and two ortofon (Concorde PRO S / Concorde DJ S). We do the test with serato (we use this in studio, because everybody know it and can work with it). The badest was the Concorde PRO S, when dust is on the timecodevinyl (or you scratch) it have the badest performance. A little bit better was the Concorde DJ S, basically when it comes to scratching. The winner was the shure system. it works very good when a lot of dust is on the timecode vinyl.
So why does the shure was the winner. It is the loudest (9,5 output voltage). The ortofon system have "only" 5 or 6 in output voltage.
We do the test on serato but i think you can take this findings also for vj. Many thanks to the threadstarter, so i have somethink to do today with my headache, i have no fancy to produce or to djing.

I ended up going with the Ortofon Concord Q-Bert Kit (2 styli and the cartridge) over the Digitracks. They have an output of 11-12 mv. I used them last night. 3 1/2 hours no jumps or skips. I didn't do anything that serious though, just fairly short mixes. Sound quality was great and loud. Plus they look awesome! I would definitely recommend.

#TimeCodeVinyl
Friends, colleagues, specialists and professionals, I have a question-a task:
Available for use
Technics-sl1210 and Denon dn-mc6000
Questions:
1) what needles and headshells should be used to use TimeCode Vinyl
2) Which sound card can be used to work with TimeCode Vinyl
3) can I use Denon 6000 as or instead of an audio card? to signal from the player Technics which will already be TimeCodeVinyl and the desired needle and headshell
I recently tried to start a signal Through the line in controller Denon, but nothing happened. Maybe one of you has already solved a similar problem once.
I am waiting for your comments and suggestions.
Thanks.
