Seeing more and more video cards now have some kind of TURBOCACHE feature, will VDJ be optimized to work with this in future versions?

My new laptop has 512mb of dedicated video memory, but it still has the TURBOCACHE feature, and I've read that VDJ might not work properly with this. (I haven't received it yet so i don't know for sure)

The problem with a lot of Nvidia cards is that when you enable hardware acceleration on the video tab, the video freezes(Depending on your Nvidia card).
The problem can be solved by downloading en installing "Rivatuner" .
On my pc I got the problem and it was solved with the Rivatuner.
On my laptop with a 8400M G geforce card, it says that it can't find the database.

Cannot find database for Forceware 156.10.
Don't know how I can fix this !!!

So, I still have the problem on my laptop and without hardware acceleration I can't use the video effects.

Hopefully, virtualdj can solve this in the future !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you say a lot of Nvidia cards, do you know what the NVIDIA SLI dual GeForce 8600M GT 512 MB, supporting TurboCache technology, 16x PCI Express is like? Or does anyone else?

from my understanding, since you already have 512mb of dedicated video memory, the system is going to use that memory first. if it's still in need of more, than it will use the turbocache/shared system memory. I don't think you should have a problem since my old lapatop with an x1400 (128mb dedicated + 128 shared) could do videos just fine.

good to hear your having sucess its a strange thing which seems to affect a wide range of softwares and games ,

but seems only to affect some cards and laptops

and does not have any problems in desktop machines

nvida drivers are very strange and people have reported than installing a desktop driver for a same model can boost performance in gaming / video work

GaryBR...

in simple terms, Turbocache = using primary system RAM.

ie, if your gfx card decides that 512mb of video memory is not enough (which is very unlikely unless you running games at extra high resolutions or use anti-aliasing or anisotropy) then it will set aside a certain percentage of you main RAM for storage.

Its not something which a program 'can take advantage of' or be optimized for :)

I doubt VDJ will give any problems because of this.

BTW, which laptop do you have that's got 8600M GT's in SLI??

Rivatuner cannot disable turbocache for Vista right now...dont know in the future (Registry line for Turbocache dissapears in vista)

Well I've discovered I have no need for Rivatuner. My new laptop performs better with VDJ than my desktop, and I never ever dreamed I'd be saying that!

I run video with 4 plug ins and its so smooth, no hiccups, no tweaking, straight out the box.

The 2 video cards I have in the laptop are Nvidia 8600M GT SLI with 512mb dedicated graphics.

I have them configured so one powers my laptop screen and the other powers the video out on my laptop and goes to the club screens.

I am seriously impressed with the performance, and I've tried 4 different laptops prior to my new one.

Vista takes care on his own way with the turbocache.
Only option is maybe a registry setting that you must change (if that´s possible to disable the turbocache)
But couldn´t find that on google.

Laptop and two video cards? how are you doing that? external video card?

Yes, I want to ask the same question.
Or don't we talk about a laptop?

Shame all these powerful laptops are 17"

Its the new SLI technology where 2 graphics cards are linked together inside the laptop. Nothing external. You can choose to have the running linked to combine power of individually for different purposes.

Heavy!

In weight, or am i out of touch with the latest lingo? lol

I have already posted this in VDJ website but i see that some of you gusy here have SLI video cards, mabe you can help me...

Here are the SPECS:

Dell XPS M1730
Mobile Intel Centrino Core Duo Processor 2.4GHz, 4MB, 800 FSB Merom
2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm for XPS M1730
17 UltraSharp TrueLife Wide screen WUXGA for XPS M1730
NVIDIA SLI Dual GeForce 8700MGT with 512MB GDDR3 Memory
200G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive Free Fall Sensor
Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy
AGEIA PhysX Physics Accelerator

The thing runs great with all video transitions and all, but When video is playing on one Deck and I load a video on the second deck the video that is playing on the screens stops for maybe a second or less.

I’m running windows Vista Home premium 32 bit… should I switch to XP?

I would really appreciate you help, thanks…
