I miss being able to smoke my Dominicain Cigars while mixing though.

Cigar+ Single Malt Scotch or Drambuie = 1 happy Marcel ;-P

Pint of cider, good music, and fresh Air = Jimmy b happy, lol

As a non smoking DJ the smoking ban in my homeland, England does not really bother me, but what about the DJ's who do like I smoke, have you cut down or even tried to give up, now you can't smoke at work.

I'm also from Edmonton... although I was DJing out of town (where you still can smoke) at the time when the Ban went into effect. I'm really kinda disgusted by smoke, so that ban is one reason I still DJ at all given that I'm busy with another career now... I was getting so fed up with the smoke, feeling like crud, smelling like ass, etcetera, but I really enjoy not having to contend with it when I'm working these days.

I can't say I noticed a difference... I play for a packed club every night pretty much. I get a crowd of smokers outside the window to the DJ booth tapping on the glass trying to get my attention on occasion, but other than that, it's all good!

There were days when I used to work for a lady who'd send me up to the ass-end of Alberta in some godforsaken town of 200 people or something, and the pubs in places like that tended to be terrible. I literally had to take breaks every 15-30 minutes to go outside for fresh air, because my eyes were stinging and it was challenging to breathe. It may have been that the venue was small and the roof was big, and nobody really cared about observing capacity limits. I'm also guessing that in the little hick towns like that, a much higher percentage of the population smokes. I think it won't be much longer before the rest of Alberta has a smoking ban in the bars though.

Well for arguments sake I think they should bring back the smoking ban :)
