Topic: Midi mixer for video suggestions....

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Well, here is the deal. I recently bought a new computer, pioneer CDJ-800's and I finally have a good amount of videos. Here is the question, what external mixers are out there so that I can still use my cdjs to scatch and mix my audio and videos? I want the same feel ase using timecode cds for the audio, but with the videos. I know I need a midi mixer. Is there anything cheaper than buying a $1400 pioneer DJM-800? Any suggestions would help.

If you already got the DJM 800 that will do ;) its midi

If you are looking for other solutions, here is a few:
- Ecler Nuo4
- Ecler Nuo5
- Korg Live4
- DJM 700 (to come says roumors)

Or simpler midi controllers such as Vestax VCI-100, Total control etc. But those arent "real" mixers

I personally never heard of Ecler. I like the features of the Nuo5 and is is about $500 cheaper than the pioneer and has some more options. How is the quality? Is there anyone that has expierience with Ecler?

the quality is said to be great, and in the DJM800 vs Ecler is a bit of personal taste.

Lots of the scratch djs prefer the Ecler, where as others the Pioneer one, for being more solid feel

One more question, how difficult is it to assign and use the Midi features? I never worked with something like that.

Assigning MIDI features is very easy, once you have midi configured correctly.

Using the Pioneer DJM 800, you would need a 5-pin MIDI input to your computer, and depending on what type of audio interface you have, you might already have one. MIDI sockets are large, black, and circular with a half-moon array of holes on the top (or sides).
In the case that you do not already have a MIDI input, M-Audio makes their cheap "MIDISPORT" interface, which is a bus-powered USB device that would serve this function perfectly:

Using the ECLER NUO 4; however, you could simply plug it into your PC (or Mac) using a USB port.

Here is a third option, which I personally believe would be the cleanest:
By using a combination MIDI/Hardware mixer/Computer Soundcard like the Korg Zero-4 (My hardware lust item of the moment), you could give up your audio interface, and use the soundcard features of the mixer to channel TCCD streams into VDJ and your music into the mixer. The built in effects on the Zero-4 aren't anything to shake a stick at either (Even rivaling the DJM-800)
like the http://korg.com/gear/prod_info.asp?a_prod_no=Zero4&category_id=2

You've got tons of options, its just up to you to decide which one fits your setup and style best.

Enjoy-

Is there anyone who has used this Korg Zero-4? Is this true? I can use this mixer with firewire instead of using and external soundcard? If this is true and works, I will buy it next week.

think it will work just as that yes ;) but maybe someone can confirm that before you get it

Hi Jim. The ecler ev05 has a built in soundcard also. Check out the thread below. I own the nuo4 and can honestly say I love it. The best thing about the mixer is the dedicated midi section which does nothing except send midi signals and has BUTTONS! Alot of the others mixers on the market you basically have to sacrifice some sort of function to use the midi and don't have buttons. The only gripe I've got about the nuo4 is that it shares the mic input with channel 4. Its either one or the either mic/channel 4.

Do your research :)

But yeah I think its over $1400 lol

Does the Nuo 5 have a sound card? The evo 5 is very expensive.
