To be able to monitor one deck whilst the other is playing out through your system as well as a 5.1 soundcard you will need a purchased version of Virtual DJ or Numark Cue. (This includes bundled version)

The demo will not allow monitoring.

If you only have a standard 2.1 sound card you will need a Stereo to RCA splitter

Check the link below for a pic of one

http://www.saverstore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?product_id=20003612&bskad=1

The smaller end plugs into the headphone socket of your computers soundcard, the other red & white ends plug into your amp(if you are using one?) or Hi-Fi inputs. (If the Amp hasn't got the option for RCA inputs you will also need to buy an adapter which converts the RCA into what ever inputs you have on your amp)

Hope this helps.

thanks is any way i can set this up so i can moniter and output thorough the laptop headphoes soket

Only if you have a purchased version of Virtual Dj or Numark Cue. (This includes bundled version)

Demo versions will not allow monitoring. Pirated versions are buggy and unreliable.

If you can't afford VDJ at this time you gonna have to use the CGBs (Waveforms) align those then fade and just hope it sounds good!

IF you're playing House music, chances are most times it will sound ok, but you may get some clashes in some frequency ranges.Obviously this is not ideal, but this is about the best you can do.

You could also just do quick volume fades between tracks, this way you are not really mixing the two songs together, but it sounds clean if you pick the right time to do it

It also not advisable to use demo at live gig.

Why would you book a gig without having the proper equipment to perform?!? That is not a wise decision my friend.

Hope to see you as a pro user soon.

If it's a family party I wouldn't worry about anything as far as perfection. Just enjoy yourself. They probably would like to have great but fun music. Most would probably agree with the rule of thumb for weddings. 1. set the appropriate atmosphere 2. have a game plan by knowing who your working with and be flexible 3. have a back up plan....

Of course, theres other minor sticky notes can be said but as long as you get the basics you'll be OK...

The big question is sound setup. Do you have the PA system and how to get from your computer to speaker?

hay just thought id let uz all know that i sorted m problem took a trip to my local djing shop kls in falkirk

hi mate

preperation is the name of the game and you certainly are on the right lines, if possible try to get into the venue on the afternoon of the party that way you can set up without a crowd seeing any problems you may encounter, do try to get from the hire company duplicate leads for power, sound and lighting as back up and don't forget those all important fuses of all sizes and ratings you may need

spend time checking sound and lighting out (you never know when a bulb may pop) get used to using the equipment before the party, will save any embarassment fumbling about later in front of guests

as its a 50th birthday probably a lot of it will be from the 70/80/90s era with dance/rnb and chart stuff for the younger ones, play as many requests as possible and where acceptable, as in functions like this its the guests that will dictate the music with a little coaxing from you

and last but not least go out there and have your self a ball... goodluck and enjoy

Tayla

thanks

At those kind of fun family gatherings, depending on the crowd vibe I sometimes come out from behind the decks on the last tune and join in, always goes down well.

I'm not talking about rubbing your body up & down against some ones Grandma (but hey that might go down well with her too ?? !!!)

Here's a tip, stay in school. Your spelling is pathetic. Please, no excuses about this only being a forum, that's another thing I hate is excuses. If you ever plan on doing this for profit, you will need contracts. Anything worth doing, should be done well. We all make mistakes, so take the time to at least use a spell checker. If you are too lazy to do that, I would not hire you to do a party for me.

well hears a point im dysilexic so howz about no i did pre aplogise for my spelling

Please read my post again, the whole thing. Just because I did not put whip cream and a cherry on top, does not mean my advice was not sound. You can take it or leave it. We all have limitations, some more severe than others. What sets some of us apart from others is, we don't make excuses. We strive to be the best we can, and don't use our limitations as cop outs. I don't know if you have dyslexia or not, but will treat you as I treat everyone else here, the same. What would you do if I asked you for a contract, send it to me with misspelled words? What I will do, is more research to see if dyslexia prevents you from using a spell checker.

@ AMAHM
I guess none of the dancers are showing you any love today- huh... that's ok, get the Jergins and you'll be just fine.
