Topic: Best connection to projector

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hey guys. Hope you are all well.

I'm going to be starting a video night soon and I've been checking out my gear. I was just wondering about my graphics setup and hope someone can advise.

I use this video card and was wondering if anyone can tell me please the best connection type to a projector that's about 20 or 30 feet (between 6 and 9 metres) away from where my machine will be sitting?

If i'm doing karaoke, i use a comp out from this (or at least similar) connector cable to the tv:

Should I use a 10 metre comp out cable to the projector...or should i try and get a 10 metre vga cable instead?

Obviously I don't want to lose any quality or any synch between the audio and the video, therefore any thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Cheers...and keep spinnin'...(",)

Well I personally use composite, but thats because all the places I DJ at have a video switcher and distribution system that only supports that.

From what I've read opinion on how far you can run a 1024x768@60Hz VGA signal without needing repeaters/boosters seems to vary from 10-20m.

I too use Composite as well. I dont see any issues with it.

Maximum cable length depends on resolution and cable type. Check out this page:
http://www.scala.com/hardware/dvi-vga-cable.html

Composite is good, but DVI-D and HDMI is better if you have it (and you have DVI-D from the look of your picture). Just refer to the page and see what cable is suitable based on your required length and the desired resolution you wish to run

well, ive personally used 20' vga cables to my monitor from another room and you can (on a CRT monitor, no idea about LCD) see a bit of difference in luminescence. the signal is a bit degraded and not as bright, but still works. if you need longer length, probably s-video is the way to go...

I think Chris got sorted on that one two and a half years back...

Godfather, although i do appreciate the advice, this is an old post.

As it happens though, this is more or less what i use nowadays anyway so i guess i'm doing something right!!!

Hehehe...(",)
