I notice you have no license so you might not get the required update to make it work in Vista. I find it works better in Vista but you'll need a well spec'd PC

our sports bar down the road has VDJ and the computer there has vista - and EVERYONE there hates it. i wont even let them put vista on the computers at this club.

been using pre installed vista on a lappy for the past year and runs as sweet as a pea, absolutely no problems whatsoever, audios fine, videos fine, no freezes or stutters except when nasa hooks up for pre launch sequence, in fact its honky dory mate

forgot to mention there has been no tweaking or nothing done to this lappy, straight out the box and working with VDJ and i would class it as a low end unit as far as specs go

I have 3 computers ( 2 w/ vista and 1 w/ xp )... the vista computers run a ton better than my xp. My gig rig has 52 processes running and the test rig has more since I haven't touch that one. I use that one for all testing.

just tested , and got my best vdj experience ever, an IBM think pad laptop, xp pro, 2ghz SINGLE cpu, 2gb mem, ati x300 128mb video card, vdj 5.0 rel 6.
I have run the machine with 2nd screen attached for video on auto mix for several 24 hour non stop sessions with no issues and VERY smooth cube transition on automix and ALMOST no jump of video at the end of the automix ( this has been an annoying problem on other machines).
My testing and research on these boards now indicates that XP and ATI video card are key components for reliability. my other machines were dual core or quad core so its possible vdj likes a single core cpu - I will test more. by the way, this think pad has not been tuned at all, has a lot of crap running on it, is always on the net etc etc......but it runs vdj beautifully

Strange you should say that. As you know i've been having the same Automix glitch as you, but last night I tried it again using the cube transition and it was almost perfect. Certainly not as noticeable as it was previously, but i have no idea why?!!!

With regards to the original question posted, I prefer Vista. Videos load quicker, quality is better. I think I read somewhere that Vista has better video and sound. I haven't noticed any better sound, but I do notice better video quality, and now the Automix glitch has been isolated to VDJ (and well be fixed i'm told) rather than Windows, I think i'd recommend Vista.

Personally I've got an issue on my vista machine, which about a year ago would have been considered a very high end machine...
The audio skips and glitches all the time. Usually it's not bad enough that other people in the club notice, but on occasion, it skips awfully bad.

I've heard that this may be specific to Vista, and that this problem isn't as common under XP... I've been too lazy to blow away the whole system to install XP at this point though...
