At advice from Cystol , I install version 4.1 ( i think) which I've used mainly for my karaoke shows as well as music. It has served me quite well for almost a year and a half... With help from the forum.
After removing everything , cleaning etc. ... I installed fresh version (understanding my cue would probably be lost, because music and karaoke on different drives on new laptop C and D)
Yet when I got back to select my karaoke folder (to show only karaoke files) it takes forever to recurse (usually takes less than a min on old computer) taking more than five mins now. And after its finished ... it only shows three discs.... for me to search through... no others. I can even open the individual folders and still the songs do not show in search. Very odd.... Then I look in local database and they are all there.
I'm just confused a bit .... is there a simple explaination? thanks Michael

Well , i used new computer tonight and it did quite well for the most part. I did lose complete Video on both players and main screen when I tried to open Task manager to view my cpu usage. I went back to video and activated ... it came back
Now 14 people have read my original post with no thoughts. Please if you have knowledge ... help me find why after recursing... it shows only three disc out of over 400. My old computer with same files shows all after i recurse my karaoke folder.

Also , what is my Sound card supposed to be set on ... My old computer is 512 and the new one is Auto. Does this make a big difference.

I wish I could help, but I no longer use version 4.x VDJ. Therefore, I have no reference material to consult for you. There are some who do still use these versions, however; hang in there ;)

I believe I know what you are talking about. I don't know the whole technical explanation, but it works different in version 5 on. I liked the old way also, when you recursed the folder, everything showed up, even when you came back to the folder. Now, you have to access each sub folder, every time you come back. It's been like that for awhile now, but you have been stuck in 4.3. Now, there may be a way to get it to do what you want, but I don't know it.
As for the sound card, auto is a good place to start. If it sounds good, leave it.

Michael are all your files in ZIP format ?
If so, you may want to check the Config -> Codecs tab and make sure that the ZIP reference is there and set to the ZIP decoder.
Also, if you are upto starting from scratch as you described above, I would try the latest version. There have been refinements to the Karaoke file support and performs considerably better than the first couple installments of v5.
Let me know how I can help more specifically.

This forum has been very helpful , like i said before, that's why I paid for the program... your support is priceless.
Yes all files are in Zip and I did add zip codec.
I would like to go on to 5.0 version ... but am a bit leary , now i know from experience that there are many that are not having problems, but seeing quite a few in forum with "situations"
If you feel that 5.0 would be best , I will start from scratch , but I must be sure I clean out every thing ... and start correctly (like having files on hard drives and external drives set up before starting)
Also , the key changer , has a wobble to it when I have tried to use it in the past , the key will drop or rise but it has a wobble to it, that is quite noticeable.
Cstoll , If you will help me make sure I have removed everything ( I will start from scratch and rebuild playlist, cues etc. ) I just need a step by step to install... My problem might be with trying to install 4.2 when something from 5.0 was still lurking somewhere. ...
