Hats off to the dev team for the Kararoke add on to rev 7. I can see where it will make the our job a little easier. I haven't used the new version yet on the job. I'm a little concerned about the singer list. If I get the occaisional crash that happens now and then, am I going to lose my list when the program comes back after clicking on the 'recover' button on the crash guard? Right now I keep my list on word pad. Don't have to worry about losing it if VDJ crashes. When you're talking about 20 some singers, it would a catastrophy to lose the rotation list.
Thanks again

Well, to answer my own question...I will lose the list if it crashes. I see if you attempt to use any other video effects, the list is gone. I guess I won't be using it. I would have to cease using the slide show, which has been real popular. I take pics of the singers and patrons when I have a chance. Using a card reader, I dump the pics into a 'slideshow folder' and put them up on the big screens during 'instrumentals' and between songs. It would be nice if the singers list would remain intact when using another video effect. Maybe something to consider for the next version.

loosing a play list and so on after a freeze up or crash has been a issue for me from day one. The first program I used was DJPower and for the most part it was very user friendly and I miss some of the playlist features.

Yeah, it's fustrating....just had something weird happen. I've had VDJ running (idling) on my comp for about 5 hours and it just crashed! Nothing playing, just idling! Oh, I may go back to ver 6. :(

All versions have been 99.9% stable for me now that I've standardised on just two sets of codecs, ffdshow and Divx. Unfortunately the only thing that I can gaurantee to make VDJ fall over is the karaoke feature of 5.0.7. Same as above, anything other than just karaoke and it barfs. I have to to turn all soniques behind music off and cant use clipbank etc. Shame but I guess it'll get better over time.

I like the plugin also but how do you feel about the following?
1: It would be nice to have the ability to remove a song and singer from the list other then by loading the track into a deck.
2: Make the list resizable
3: When you are not playing a Karaoke track to not have anything (song, artist) showing. Currently it will show the song playing
but the singer will be the last singer listed, i.e. the karaoke song before.
4: Have it so the load button just loads the song and does not start it playing also.
These are just suggestions that I think will work well for most. I do karaoke 4 nights a week and very seldom do I do karoake all night
it is usally mixed in with videos or songs.

Ah yes, the last suggestion sounds nice. Not only have it load and not play, but go to cue 1 when enabled in config.

I’ve been requesting a scrolling feature for months and the new KAROKE effect is what they come up with.

and a button to SAVE the list?
or if it auto-saved, and you have a button to ROLL BACK the songs...
OR
if the list would put an estimated time that the song would be possibly played, then once played, put the play-time and put a strikethrough font over the time, song and singer name, until i remove it from the list. (this idea could be if the singer was called up, but was out having a smoke))

All good ideas, most importantly the auto-save would be great. Also, make it so that if you use another effect, you don't lose the list, it just drops down to the taskbar.
Earlier, I talked about VDJ crashing while idling. I reinstalled ver 6, without uninstalling ver 7. The weird thing is now I have ver 6 and the karaoke addon remained. Haven't had any crashes in the last two nights, but did mostly karaoke. I'll know tonight when I mix video and karaoke the entire night.
Despite all the problems, VDJ is still the best thing out there and I wouldn't trade for anything. I know we all appreciate what the dev team has done to keep all of us happy...which is not an easy task!
Thanks
