Is it ever too late to start DJ'ing proffessionaly?

I read a lot of people here having 20+ years DJ'ing and still learning. How hard is it to get into the game once your in your late 20's or older??

Is it possible to do it part time (the need to pay bills outways practicing all day)?

Just curious what you guys think. It's kinda my situation.

dont think so at all... i just think that people have 20 plus because music was perhaps the biggest in your early years

ie, you remember the music from your teens the most, where i got my inspiration to dj @ 12 - im 16 now and have solid gigs, about to do a wedding and trying to get to clubs...

however, its strictly a hobby for extra cash for me

25. Lol you'll be one of the ones on this forum 15 years from now, talking about new technology and saying you've been doing this for 20 years. Thats great to see someone as young as you being successful in this business.

never too late m8. dont give in to a defeatist attitude and dont let some arsehole tell you otherwise.

if you look at the biggest djs in the world, they are all mid-late 30's with kids. some started when they were young, some didnt. the only difference between a successful dj and one that isnt is not age, it's not experience, it;s drive and dedication.
 
some of the most succesful djs in the world today are in there early to mid forties and i'm coming up to fifty one very soon, so dont let age be a factor in any decision that you make otherwise i will be sending for the agest police, your still a young pup in my eyes, i work three to four nights a week 52 weeks a year and could do more nights if i wanted but that would really be pushing it with the wife

if you want to do it, do it, just consider the enviroment you want to work in and the equipment that you will need to do a succesful job then add a little extra to those specs you started with, help will always be here on these forums if you are unsure of any aspect of choice

i would never want to come to the end of my days and be one of those guys that say " if only i had done this" that would be so sad

just do it mate

Hells yea. I mean, i'm teaching some friends how to dj (They want to get right into the scratching though, so it will take a while) but if you have a good song selection, then it doesn't matter how well you can mix, the crowd will still like the selection. Now you just have to find out what crowd you want to dj for, and start collecting what you think is good music for that crowd

It's true! Tayla is the only DJ in the UK with a walking frame and an oxygen bottle at his gigs! He has also had to have CPR a few times when the girlies started to shake their booties!

yeah but i can still get them up hehe and when terry gets rid of his hair he'll stop looking like one, mind apparently he can shake that bootie, just don't bring the lights up

as for me im a puny 18 yr old...been djing for like like 3 yrs..eheheh

I dont thinks ever too late to get into the game. The majortity of most djs started dj ying at a young and others later. I started dj ying when i was 16. I bought equipment and records and started practicing. I listened to the radio and comapred my mixes. I started dj ying parties a few years after. I didnt jump into it right away. In the beggining process of becoming a dj, its better to practice and listen to other djs play. make tapes and let other people hear you and get feed back. Once you think you are good enough, then you start booking gigs. Its easier to become a dj now these days because back then, there was no music downloading. You had to keep buying records every week. Now all you do is download music or even buy someones MP3 collection for cheap. I have 22 years Dj ying.
I showed people to dj and if someone ask me if they can learn, ill teach them.
 
I started only 19 years ago. Yep I'm the young buck. But I know a couple of successful DJ's in my area that didn't get started until their 30's-40's
