Just had a phone call from the bar manager who I do Friday nights for in town.
He ask me if I would do a few Sunday afternoon slots for him, now I've never played during the day and to me it will feel like I'm only playing background music for the bar, and I don't like that idea.
Has any of you guys done these type of slots. Told him I'll think about it and tell him my answer tomorrow night when I see him before my gig.

I have done a few of these here in Cyprus and I actually quite enjoy it. Its totally different from night time slots but usually you can get away with playing tunes you wouldnt normally play. Of course it depends on the venue and clientele but I like to play some ambient and chill out tunes at these kind of gigs, even some of my own music slipped in. It is more background kind of thing but no less enjoyable just for different reasons than getting the crowd going.
go for it.

It's not always about the money for me, but I hate to work on Sundays, and charge more for it. Having said that, I would jump on it, if you have the time to do it. If you work six days a week it may be too much for you. It would also depend on the crowd he was trying to attract. For me, it would give me an opportunity to get into some serious music. I know they call it "Lounge" now, but I just call it easy listening. I'm not talking about boring music, because some of it is danceable. Like 95 to 110 bpms. It's like a whole new world, and I love it. Actually, I have been in that mode all day, and everyone loves it. I mean it is Valentines day.

Cheers for the advice AMaHM, might suggest to the Bar manager that I will do a couple on see what happens.
I think his plan is to open the big back doors of the bar, which over look a patio area and the canal, and see if he can pull any placing trade in. But at this time of year it will be freezing, a good idea for the summer months though.
