Hello,

I'm sw00000p and I'm totally new. I'm reading the Guide and leaning the basic terms for DJ'ing.
With just a Dual Core PC and Virtual DJ 5, can I mix and record with this alone.
My Goal is to Mix and Record to my pc. I just don't know how.

Any Help would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,
sw00000p

First, welcome to the community!

You should be able to record by selecting "record from master" in the record tab. Then it's just a matter of choosing the file type and destination file name ;)

If you have more trouble, someone is usually around to help.

Welcome Swoop, See that u are already a pro user.

Have fun n njoy;)

Hi,

Thanks discjockeydoc for the help.

SpinnaJ: No sense in crying over spilled milk.
I like this software and determined to learn how to use it.
I don't even know how to mix!

Would You Please Point Me To Where I Can Read and Learn How To Mix?
One day I'd like to help others in the same noobie boat that I'm In.

Please Advise: Many Thanks.

Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Hi, It says that virtual dj can be used as a stand alone. As in an emergency.
How are the various features configured with just PC controlls, no Headphones or external Hardware?
Is it possible? If so, How? PLEASE

Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Hi and welcome to the community!
You can use only PC for mixing, just practice. You can see wave form at the top which can be useful during mixing. For house/techno this is ok, but for hip hop rnb you will need to use prelisten, which you can with almost all todays integrated sound cards. If you need more help, feel free to ask.

DJ-ALF,

Thank you soo much. I really appreciate your comments and advice. Every Term is New to me.
Please tell me about prelisten. I am just practicing at this point.
I'm using a:

HP Dual Core Desktop XP SP2
Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Basic sound card
I have a ATI Radeon X1650 Video Card

I really appreciate any advice.

Kind Regards,
sw00000p

1. The easiest way for you to enable prelisten without allot of configuration and hours of pain in the ass, is to buy a really cheap plug-and-play usb soundcard (almost all computer stores got one).

2. When you have done this, you should plug the soundcard in your PC and check that it's installed.

3. Now you should open your VirtualDJ program and go to CONFIG --> Sound Setup ---> Sound card(s) ---> Then you choose 'Two cards'. Then you choose your new cheap usb sound card for headset, and the other for the speakers.

4. If you now load a song on the decks you should hear the music play in your speakers (if the music is in your headset only, then you have switched the sound cards, try step 3 again).

5. While the music plays find a song in the virtual dj browser --> right click ---> press 'Prelisten'. Now the selected song should start playing in your headset, while the other song (in your deck) plays on you speakers.

Hope this helps you some:)

Ps. http://www.djtutor.com/index.php is a good site with video tutorials for all djs! Check it out ;)

marcellodj well explained and if you wanna use just your integrated sound card select 5.1 output in Config of your sound card and instead of selecting 2 sound cards option in VDJ, select 4.1 or 5.1 output and Headphones option. Below you will have choice which channel will do main ouput and which will be for prelisten (headphones).
I suggest you to get some hardware controller, Hercules MK2 is good and affordable for the start, I use it in conjunction with the external mixer.
Hope this helps.

marcellodj & DJ-ALF & spinnaJ & discjockeydoc:

I kindly thank ALL OF YOU. I am no longer in the Dark.
That was simply an AWESOME and PRECISE explanation.
Now I Get It! Thanks for sharing your wisdom to someone who knows absolutely nothing.

Kind Regards,
sw00000p

You're most welcome, that's why we are here :)
Feel free to ask anything.

Hi, I bought the DJ Console MK2 All-in-One controller.
Which button is actually the Master Tempo?
I read the ultimate controller post, but it doesn't show how to configure the buttons.
Could someone please help me configure the buttons Correctly.

PLEASE HELP!

Kind Regards,
sw00000p
