Topic: Karaoke Plugin fails on Vista.

I get the following message when trying the new karaoke plugin with Vista.

This application has failed to start because d3dx9_33.dll was not fond.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

The recomended Direct X runtime does not help. Vista ships with the Direct X 10.
The direct x 9 plugin does not work for me on my computer or laptop with Vista.
From what I understand Direct X 10 is not backward compatable.

Has anyone gotten the karaoke plugin to work with vista?

There is a Vista Direct x update. Search the web for direct x 10 update.
 
I tried the update it does not work, and from what I am finding it does not update direct x 10, and there is no direct x 10 update.
Has anyone goten the Karaoke plugin to work with Vista?
 
I have Vista and mine works fine, I believe I installed an update as I had the same issue as you.

Ok I got it to work on my desktop.
I installed the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

The instuctions in this forum had a link to the DirectX End-User Runtimes.

This one will not work with Vista.

According to the documentation of the Web Installer it is installing DirectX 9, so I am going backwards.
Hopfully in the future Virtual Dj will support DirectX 10.
 
I dont think it changes the fact that Vista utilizes DirectX 10, I just think the plugin is looking for a directx 9 file. I could be wrong, but I still think Vista is still using Direct X 10.
 
Got the same problem.

Downloaded and installed direcx_nov2007_redist,exe somewhere from the internet.

Problem solved.
