I read the tiny bit in the manual and did search to find out but there is only one post from 2004 on this. What does the function do? Specifically what does it do over a network.
I have a laptop that I use to set cue points and arrange folders and a "Clean" rack mount PC for events that I syncronize my music and cuepoints to. Can this feature help with this?

No. The Network sync is for networking 2 instances of VirtualDJ together between 2 computers for use.

Does this need to be via a network via a switch/router? or can u simply plug a ethernet cable between both computers??

Its based on windows lan, Can be used via a Hub/switch/router or simply by a xover ethernet cable. If you go for the xover cable, then be sure to assing IP adresses.

What exactly is networked? I have no clue what this means :) LOL and the manual doesnt help in this regard..
Does it just basically enable a person to "sync" the BPM's? (instead of just between players it will now also "sync" the BPM's between "instances")
thanx!

I'd also like more clarification on what Network Synchronization actually does. If I cue up a song and press play on one computer, does it cue up and press play on the other computer that it is synchronized with?
That would be great if that were the case. Then I could always have the backup computer as a fail-safe computer. If the computer crashes or music drops out on one computer as the Bride/Groom first dance is going on, I just crossfade on my hardware mixer to the other deck that is synced with it.
Is this used for backup purposes or is to enable us to have up to 4 decks? Please clarify. Thanx.

It allows SYNC and beatlock to work between two separate instances of VirtualDJ.
If you beat mix manually, then it's not necessary.

The address used in VDJ is a multicast address. This means the address and port used in VDJ config on all computers should be the same - think of it as a "group" address.
Obviously the IP addresses of the computers should all be different as normal. All computers should also be on the same local network unless you are competant with multicast routing.

I got way past that point , im refering to the fact that there is no visable linking or anything to show that they are using the timeline off the other computer , Maybe its something I need to figure out.

No, there is no 'visible' linking.

maybe in the future we need a linking light and also the availabilility to see a third wave form and or forth. it would rock to be able to set up turntables and all the gear and midi and more to make it a station of the gods.

Is it just me or is Multi Instance not available in Version 7 Pro?
I cant see any setting for Multi Instance at all yet on my buddies who is still on V6 he does have the option. We want to network our lappies together and I would have upgraded him to V7 at same time but if its not available then.............
