Topic: What do you all think of this setup?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi everybody I got bored so i thought about adding a topic about setups.
this is the setup i plan to have very soon, what does everyone think of this?

2 time coded viynlls
of corse, a laptop with Vdj pro ( at the back)
2 x Technics 1210 mk5g ( left at the side of the rmx and the right on the other side )
Hercules rmx ( in the middle of the decks)
M-audio UC33e ( infront of the hercules rmx )

who agrees that this would be a nice setup ? :)

while your reading this why not post about what setups you have?

nice setup indeed... i got 2 gemini cdt05s on timecoded cds, not vinyl because i need needles
(virtual vinyl) so thats it really... need to upgrade a mixer

Got any pictures?

nice, im planning on ditchin my mk2 and buy the rmx, but i also need time coded vinyls first which i ambout to buy,
i will have a rmx my technics with tcv on them :)
i shall buy the sampler last :)

Well hard to say as no one has really had a chance to use an RMX yet .

The Uc33e is a good sample controller , so is the Mpd 24 if you prefer a Pad controller.

Something to consider if you want a very good time-code sound-card get the Numark Virtual Virtual Vinyl package , which includes full Cue , 2 records and a high quality sound-card.

What is the spec of the laptop?

i dont have a laptop insted i have acomputer, iwas just wonderin what ppl would think of having alaptop at the back instead of a big computer in the background,
thers realy no point in the virtual vinyl realy if your using a mk2 or rmx ( wen ppl start usin a rmx ) they only good if u have a mixer that doesent have its own soundcard.
but thnx :)

cmon everyone join in =]

There's a giant advantage to using a desktop for timecodes rather than a laptop, and that is using a pci sound card like the delta 1010lt. USB cards can have a lot of problems due to IRQ conflicts, especialy on low end laptops. I used timecodes on my laptop & got tons of crashes and audio dropouts & hiccups. Once I tryed them on my desktop with the 1010lt I've had no problems whatsover. Now on my laptop I only use the mk2 with the wdm drivers;^]

hmm, could this mean i coud experience problems if i only used the sound card in the RMX? with time codes and a laptop?

Possibly, alot depends though on the laptop itself. But if you want to be safe you may want to go with a PCI card like the 1010lt and a regular hardware controller without the soundcard if you really need the controller;^]

ah ok :) thnx

The Setup Sounds good. Here is what i am using.. I have 2 pioneer cdjs 1000mk3 with pioneer djm 500 12 inch mixer. Everything is inside a Marathon case that holds both cdjs mixer plus a laptop I am using a dell 1501 with AMD turion 64 x 2 @ 2.0 ghz each core, 2 gigs of ram and 256 mb video card. Music is inside a external 120 gig HD. Im rocking parties and making everyone sweat to my sounds..

Well, first I'm going to post my setup, second I'm gonna ask for advice on here, as I know I have been repetitive about this before.

Windows xp media center OS
2 gigs of ram,
160gbharddrive
1 terabyte external harddrive
2pioneer cdj1000mk3's
rane ttm57sl mixer
numark dmc06mixer
two vestax pdx 2000mk1's
hercmk2
Rane Serato software
Virtual DJ PRO software

so there goes that for the setup, now here are a few questions. I'm not going to lie, but 4 club gigs right now at various venues, serato has not failed. Its 100% stabile. I still have vdj on the same laptop, but i did notice a few errors. like, i can't run vdj at all with the rane mixer hooked up because it shutdowns automatically, so what i thought i'd do was maybe just run serato at my gigs, and run vdj on vdj radio or when i'm doing pre-recorded sets.. vdj is great. i love the sampler for my drops but it just sucks, cuz i can't video mix, and thats what i really want to do.

when i use vdj for vdj radio i run with the numark mixer, and the hercmk2 as my interface,
in yalls professional opinion, should i just buy virtual vinyl ? so i can video mix as well? and will it interfere with my serato setup? cuz i was hopin to have both programs on the same laptop, just ran seperately and not at the same time.

Also will my xml database from virtual dj pro carry into virtual vinyl?
also on a side note, does anyone know of a good mp4 converter? thanks guys,

JC

One thing that I have seen people on this site use that I don't understand (and it's part of this setup, so I figured I'd ask): If you're using vinyl for a controller, why would you also have another controller, such as a Hercules controller. It seems to me that it's just asking for conflicts (i.e., one controller counteracts the other), and using a dedicated mixer and dedicated sound card would be more reliable. But, since I've seen a few pictures of setups that have both, I have to assume there's some part of the equation I'm missing here.

correct, i have also seen setups with 2 controllers included, i dont know why, however when i get my rmx, i am planning on just sellind my mk2, i wont need it once i have my rmx

well honestly dach, the reason for the 2 controllers is one for only vdj and one for serato. hope this helps.

OK. I guess that makes sense. I don't use TCV at all, so I just plain might not be able to relate. I always thought you could use TCV with VDJ.

I only use one controller and its not Virtual Vinyl. I am strickly serato.

do you have the rane ttm57sl caliente?

I dont have the ttm57 mixer. I use the serato box.
