Topic: Decisions... Want Your Vote, New RMX Users Please - Page: 1

ok guys i've had a look at all of the threads going on about the new unit and i'm really stuck in the middle here of to buy or not to buy...

i'm currently just using a mouse as i have done for years and can get by quite adequately with no major probs and just plodding along with it, but the new rmx had caught my attention and would be a new shiny gizmo to play with but i dont want it to be a "new toy" where i will just discard it after a few nights a then revert back to the mouse.

so what i need from you guys and only the guys that have purchased it or have tested it a simple yes or no and maybe a line or two on why you came to that decision, also if you dont mind the price you paid for it, the best i have seen so far is £250 but the advert didn't say whether that included delivery

thanks

A MOUSE?????
You ARE kidding me....

For God's sake man, controllers are pocket change.
Got a dac 3 if you want.

The RMX is actually a really nice unit, had one about a week now.
If it had a second mic input, it might be my primary controller right now over the dmc 2.

Definitely a hell of a unit and not based on the price.

My only beef is the play buttons are a bit plastic y, rather have rubberized buttons.

Are you kiddin

Tayla and I live the UK, and things over here cost twice as much as they do, over on your side of the pond Rick.

Have you had any sound issue's with your unit Rick. I'm been wanting one, but what I've been reading from other users on the sound quality, has put me off it abit.

I'm not kidding Jimmi
The dollar is worth half what the euro is now, no kiddin'.
Given what pro gear costs and what this little unit delivers, its pocket change regardless of denomination.

No sound issues on this one, pretty pleased actually.
Heads and shoulders above the mk2 imo.

I don't know where we are in the forum responses so I'm gonna ask the question anyway. Is it LED'd, mostly functional, total mapped functions... hows the operations of it.

thanks for the quick response rick

the cost of the unit doesn't enter into it thankfully, but as jimmy says we in the UK are always having to pay over the odds for just about everything on the open market compared to other countries, thats why i import from the States on a regular basis for my companies and others in the distribution chain around the UK, simple economics, as the exchange rate goes we are paying $150 more for the same unit, now if enough guys came forward and the shipping rate were favourable where do you think i would get mine from.

growing up using the black stuff then moving onto cds i've had the use of many a mixer at my finger tips but for some reason probably not being in the age group of having been taught computer basics in my educational life (ok i'm just to damn old ) have just plodded on using the mouse over the last few year since i took the step of ditching completely the other media i had previously used, as this will probably be my last purchase hardware wise and may not be used for that long i needed an overall view of the pros and cons of the unit and didn't want to have any problems that occured with the mark2

but with your highly rated and experienced commendation for this unit i will be online tomorrow looking as usual for the best deal, lol and will hopefully have one for the weekend and gigging with it the following weekend.

just hope i don't pee everyone off with my help requests

thanks... T

fatkatz

read somewhere not all of the function buttons are back lit for some reason, but i haven't got the time or patience to hang about waiting for the RMX mk2 to come out to have these corrected

and not all the loop buttons work correctly on some unit's, I've read.

but if you don't use them (which I don't) it's OK.

and your gonna get real peed with me....

Get the RMX

Wow, I just did some checking.

How on earth they can charge you almost DOUBLE what that unit costs here is crazy.
I am seeing it at 315 Euros, which is $503 USF.

I always thought msrp was msrp, period.
That is nuts.

Still, compared to Pro gear pricing its a bargain.

I thought Jamaica was bad, sent some stuff there before to a friend of mine.

So anyway, sorry if I came off stong Tayla, I had no idea they gaffed you guys like that.

r

I read on another site that they left out back lights on certain buttons to cut down on USB power needed to run the unit;^]

@rick, no sweat

i think the correct word you are looking for is shafted, we get that all the time on everything rick, now you can understand the percentages of why we in the UK feel Hercules who are selling to the same community but not on a level playing field is totally wrong, when it first came out about the new RMX i did a post asking if VDJ could bring pressure to bear on Hercules that a certified Pro User who ordered through VDJ where ever in the world they maybe could purchase for the same price as in the US plus shipping costs they may get a better sales return from the forums unfortunately it wasn't picked up on and i think they may have missed the boat on this one, better awareness from Hercules on there next release may yield better unit sales.

by the way on mainland Europe Hercules is still cheaper than in the UK by about $80 if the information i was given is correct

thanks again

I remember buying a Dac 2 controller for £250 and a maya sound card for £160 and having to have a mixer so I think the remix is good value for money even in the UK.

I sold a couple of controllers at a loss to acomodate the new controller as I didn't enjoy using the old ones at all, if you don't have a controller and you don't have this loss then why don't you get one? Also if you get booked every week is it really out of the way for something that is such a big part of your system? maybe you only DJ once a month? in which case it's a serious decison.

I just know that as far a equipment goes I paid twice as much for my feedback destroyer so I think it's cheap. You know that there wont be a new version for nearly three years so it's not like you won't get your moneys worth.

hi charlie

gig 3 to 4 nights a week year round and money is not the question or a priority in my situation, i dj because i want to and not have to worry about where my next gig is coming from, i can manipulate that mouse quite well enough for no one to notice otherwise, unless your standing over me and then you know it's not a controller as such

this post was about feedback from current rmx users on the pros and cons of the unit and not whether i should buy a controller, the decision has been made to purchase the rmx anyway with input from rick that was good enough for me,

i noticed today while trawling the net for best price on the unit there isn't one, you either buy it at £250 ($500) plus £10 ($20) delivery, or £260 ($520) and free delivery, to me that seems like there is price fixing going on and the same thing seems to be happening in the states, as it happens i'm having to wait until my local electronics store can get hold of one for me so in the event of any repairs needed at least i will have a company on my doorstep. no good having next day delivery now because we all know what happens when you want a repair done and you have to mail it off to some unknown company. may have to go this route if he can't get a unit quick enough, anyway will find that out tomorrow.

update on whats happening...

tried to purchase the unit locally but had no joy there, local retailer tried to contact Hercules put were not answering their emails from him, so i opted to go for one of two retail stockists that were listed on the Hercules site seems strange only two in the whole of the UK, but if there not answering emails to potential well established retailers I'm not suprised, anyway its in the post and expected tomorrow (Friday) to late for the weekend I suppose, never mind, anyway final purchase price including next day delivery £260 ($520)...

Cool, you've gone and done it then. Nice one mate.

Let us know how you get on with it. If you need some help, give us a shout Tayla. Might be able to help.

I'll be ordering one soon now.

jimmy you will be the first one i be contacting, never set one up so i need you to guide me through the process probably, just one question for you or anybody else that may read this, i see it comes with it's own skin will i still be able to use formats skins?????

The skin that comes with it, is the Console edition skin, if you choose to install that software, (DJC edition 5) you will be using that skin.

When using the RMX with the pro version you will be able to use the same one you are using now, or any pro skin.

cheers mate, well so far my fears of using a retailer outside of my area have been unfounded, immediate confirmation of order with tracker number and its now in the back of a courier vehicle heading to my front door, will keep you posted people on events just in case you may also want to purchase a unit this way....
