Ok, after looking for a while how VJ'ing is done, i just am going to ask here. Hopefully this comes out without confusion.
I currently own both Virtual DJ & Serato (not Video). To use Serato with Video, you have to buy the TTM57. I own two DNS 3500's.
I see Video's online of DJ's Scratching Video's with the Pioneer DVJ-1000's (DVD turntable's). I see the mixes they have, and their media is
all across the board, from Movie footage, to TV footage, Music Videos, concert footage, etc. But I never see them replace Disk's from the
Pioneer player. Serato Video only works with the TTM57 mixer, so If I see that mixer it makes sense to me. And when I see a DJ use
Numarks Virtual DJ, I know they are swapping the Media on their Laptop. But when I see someone use the Pioneer DJM-800 with the DVD turntables
scratching and mixing Videos without removing Disk's, how is it done? (See DJ Yoda & DJ Steel for an Example)

Not sure what you mean?
If you use SMART MODE in timecode settings, you can throw a new track "on to the vinyl" on the fly... and keep spinning the new track..
With timecode CD's is even easier, as one click on the cd player (cue at start), will also return the CD to the beginning, and if smart mode, just keep on spinning a new track if loaded onto virtual deck in VirtualDJ/Serato...
Is that what you mean?

They will have all there tracks and media clips/edits on disc's within the DVD drives, so there will be no need to change.

Remember, most of the things you see is edited at home and put together in some shape. Example: you can remix a song in such a way that it looks like a bunch of single stuff your putting together in the now. Smashvidz.com has some nice selections.

I understand you can load the DVD's up with any media you choose, but damn, wouldn't it be hard to keep track of what each track is, and to go back and forth.
Wouldn't ur set start to become stale with always using the same media constantly. I guess you could always keep updating your DVD's with new media. I was watching a Promo only/Pioneer
Video with DJ Steel, and you can see him using the DVJ's with the Pioneer 800 Mixer. So that eliminates Serato, but he was playing video clips outside of the promo only subscription.
So did he rip PO DVD's then reconstruct a new DVD with B roll footage and then just run off those DVD's?

Promo Only Video's to Old School Movie clip is one of the examples I am talking about
any help would be great.. thanks

yeah he would, there is alot of software out there that you could use e.g. Sony Vegas is one.

Gotcha, just seems like alot of work, and limits ur music selection by constantly making new DVD's with new music instead of
using a laptop with Virtual DJ on it.

Also, I just looked at my blank DVD's, and they say they hold 4.7 gigs worth of data. Some of the music Video rips I have are around 500 Megs. So, around 8 videos will fit on 1 DVD?.
Which gets me back to my original question, How do these VJ's Keep switching back and forth from music video's to Movie rips and such without ejecting the DVD's? Serato is out of the question, cause
they are using all Pioneer Gear (DJ Yoda).
Sorry to keep pestering, I just want to figure out how these guys do it.

Your DVD storage is correct but take in account that your not storing a whole movie just sample of them. In one of my folder I have video sample of cartoons, movies quotes like godfather, some Denzel Washington quotes, the matrix and just random movie images. I use VDJ to provide a play list of what I might use that night and place them in the playlist side. So you figure average quote or sample is about 10 seconds or more which give you more than enough time to place the next song / video.... Yes, it does take a lot of effort but since I never sleep anyway until 0300. Right now it's fun and nice hobbie and for what I hear I'm the only one nearby who does this. It just takes imagination and creativity. I don't have access to the expensive video machines like some of the sponsored DJ's have so I make due and VDJ has everything I need wright now.
I just bought another external for my videos ( 500g ) and spent a couple of hours moving things onto it. roughly a 726 video stack only took up about 46g.

In addition, they could also be using Dual layer DVD's which gives you twice the storage (>8 GB).

Gotcha, I think everyone has helped me figure out how this is done. I guess I was struggling cause all the DJ's I watch make it look so easy.
Practice , Practice, Practice I guess.... Time to go back in the cave and work.. haha
Oh, and do the Pioneer players read Dual Layer DVD's?

officially they don't (per the manual) but in most cases they do. The club where I VJ has 2 DVJ-X-1's & I personally own 2 DVJ 1000's. All 4 of these players read the dual layers that I use without problems. Also, the Promo Only Urban DVd series uses dual layer DVD's too & these read just fine.
