Hey guys, i have virtual dj an im FULLY happy with it. I won a contest where i got serato scratch live full package, which is awesome. Now currently im using my hercules MK2 for my asio card/midi controller, and its worked out pretty well. The thing is i have heard that the serato one is much better (ASIO i mean). The other thing is i want to ebay my prize, cause i dont need it, but i need 2 questions answered first, which id like to ask instead of testing for myself, in fear of depreciating the value.

1. Is the Serato ASIO card thing really that much better than my MK2? I mean when i try to beatmix, all in all i can get pretty close, but sometimes i feel its not getting up to the speed i want. Im considering using the asio card with my virtual dj, but i want to know if its really worth it, cause that'll take out a large portion of the value of the package if i was to ebay.

2. If i were to use the Serato card, could i still use my Hercules MK2 as my midi controller/mixer? I really like the loop features, the effects, and the auto BPM features it has, and i dont really wanna buy a new mixer.

Please help me out if u can, thanks

Yes the sound card will be better than the mk2. If I were in your position I would keep it.

Hate to tell you this but it won't improve your beatmatching,; but you will learn with time

Yes, you can use MK2 just as MIDI mixer, but I suggest you the thing I am gone do, sell your MK2 and get new Hercules RMX console. It will be better for what you need.

Well, how much better is the Serato card i mean. Like with my beatmatching i mean, i sometimes feel there is a small delay, just tiny, but it effects how well i can bring in another track on a beat. Also if i do keep the serato card, could i still sell the rest, i mean would people buy it?

I mean cause ive seen it on ebay for $530, and that would be a pretty nice pocket, so i want to make the most intelligent decision that i can

As mentioned your beat matching will only get better with YOU. The serato card is one of the top cards to have for sure. Just because I give you a set of Technics doesn't mean that you will be able to use them at all.

Beat matching just takes practice. I used to beat match on old American DJ 200 series dual cd players. That was tough because they were not instant start. You CAN do it and WILL get better but you have to practice.

The Serato card rocks. There are others but you have that for free.

No trust me i understand that i need to work on my beatmatching, no doubt on that.

What i mean is, y should i upgrade, if i can sell what i got. Im trying to learn specifically why the serato card is better than the mk2. I know it is, but why is what i want to know

I hear ya.

I still use the Maya 44 USB so I guess I might not be the one to chip in. I had Serato, Final Scratch II, UDJ...blah blah blah... I went back the old faithful. For what I do, I don't have any issues. Maybe you do not either. If you are happy with the card you have and need the money sell it. It is just a chance for you to upgrade for free and that does not come around often.

serato soundcard is the best soundcard in my opinion. The audio is more powerful and its already at most major nightclubs in cities. all you have to do is bring your laptop and whatever else you use.

When you say more powerful, what do u mean? My point is i want to understand why it is better or more powerful than my MK2

Maybe better dynamics or lower latency but that explains the higher price and less functions than MK2.

So whats ur guys opinion. Get $500, or use the card?

Honestly, I would keep the Serato box. People can download Serato's software for free so that along with the timecoded vinyls you probably won't be able to sell on eBay. It's the sound card that people want and are willing to pay $500 for.

The reason I say keep Serato is because one of these days you will probably end up DJing with someone using Serato. If that's that case and you're a Virtual DJ user, you can use Virtual DJ along with the nice Serato sound card. How well do they work together....I don't know but I know it can be done. Also, it's a real pain in the ass when you've got 1 DJ using Serato and another using Virtual Vinyl when you've only got a 2 channel mixer. I want to hear from users that actually use the SL1 card with VDJ and how it's holding up for them. Hello, are you out there?

I don't know much about the MK2 but I've used Serato and it sounds awesome. Basically, I go for 24-bit/96K sound cards which is what I believe the SL1 card has. I know my ECHO DJ/IO has it and it sounds nice. I know that when you're downloading music or ripping from cd's you will never get anything close to full 24-bit audio (which is DVD quality) but I believe there will be higher quality digital downloads available for DJ's in the future which will take advantage of that type of audio equipment. I can't wait!!! Also, sometimes the software you're using makes a bit of a difference in terms of audio quality. I've used VDJ side by side with Serato running on the same sound card and Serato sounds better.

Anyway....when you mentioned something about beatmixing.....what program were you using to beatmix with? Again, I say keep Serato. I've you've got VDJ, then you might be able to get the VDJ timecode feature to work with the SL1 box and if you do.....let me know how it works for you. I'm curious.
