Topic: Starting A New Location with a New Laptop

I just want to make sure of the performance level set in my laptop. I never used a laptop for A show. I believe have things set but not sure. My settings are:

Presets - fastest
Sound card - checked safe mode , checked over clock
quality
simple algorithm (11)
basic int (11 )
fast

Last night I did a dry run in the club and distortion came over the speakers sometimes... when I would touch the jog wheels or eq. Not all the time though. I just changed the setting to the above setting.

fatkatzdj -- specs of the laptop ?

And if it is a DUAL Core - get rid of the checks in Safemode and Overclock. Should only be for older laptops.

I get that if I move if I the preset slider all the way over to Quality.

So I just stick with fastest.


 
i am testing the demo out and I am getting pops too. thought it might be because i am using a firewire soundcard and both my soundcard and video card are on the same IRQ. I have messed around with the settings and even upped my buffer size in my soundcard to see if it would help. Just seems this program requires alot of work. I am glad I used the demo before i bought it because I am frustrated right now with this program.

Dude you answered your concern:::: same IRQ
It's not the program its your setup.
 
well how do you fix it? I have read tutorials on here but cant seem to figure it out. one would think if you have a good quality laptop and soundcard a program wouldnt be so difficult to run on it. I bought a pair of numark vinyls to test it out on my turntables and since i have downloaded it i have spent numerous hours playing around tring to get it set up just right. my timecode was giving me fits in the beggining and i finally narrowed down the problem with that. My ground wire on one of my turntables for some reason was causing one of the timecodes to skip around and move around even without the needl on it. Then once i finally think i have it working with video after about 10 minutes or so with no problems the audio starts distorting and crackling. So back to more researching to discover a new proble same IRQ. I have asked on computer forums and on here how to fix this if possible with no luck. I am not knocking it so dont get me wrong I want so badly for this program to work because I see its potential but I cant justfy spending $300 if it doesnt work with my current setup.
 
Well first off you start your own topic and not hijack someone elses, as far as how to fix it, good luck as you may not be able to.
 
disco, i did have my own thread and nobody responds! I see his thread which he has the same distortion problem so i thought maybe we had the same problem. I let him know what info I had found out since nobody seems to know his problem either. I think mine also could be from having my sound cards buffer size set to the smallest level and not being able to handle that. so goodluck to us all tring to get this program to run smooth. and heaven forbid we finally get it working and then have to reformat a harddrive or something and start back over from scratch tweaking it to work
 
My issue was fixed the same day. I was just confirming my work. By the way it worked perfectly tonight with out a single hich or hick-up. I'm so glad I baught a laptop. Next Weak I'll be using TC on Pioneer 1000.

Fat I am really curious on this one, you do videos too correct?? That is a sweet deal for a lappy and if u are havin no issues with Video I may need to get me one of those.
 
I love my laptop and it does a fantastic job for under 700.00 usd. I do time code with all videos. It goes everywhere with me like a pet. Since my job took away the internet (bastards) I bring my laptop and start editing videos. My boss has no problems with it as long as it doesn't interrupt my job. I might even give my laptop a name.
