Hi Everyone,

Quick question when I play my system at a low level I can hear more hisssing from the speakers than I can music. I am using 2 18 subs form begringer with a crown 802 amp and two yamahas for my mids and highs with a qsc 1450 I do have a crossover. What could be the problem?

Its probably just a power hiss..you can try turning the amp down for lower volumes. Or, look into a noise reduction tool. Like the BBE 362NR, it uses a noise reduction system that eliminates the hiss your describing.
 
BBE® Max-X3™ is what am using from what i understand it has the noise reduction tool built in
 
just follow terrys advise turn your amps down when playing music at a low background level, same applies if your using your mic for speeches etc...

 
Then I would try turning the amp down, sounds like a signal max issue to me. I always try to run my stuff at equal levels. (Example: My Mixer on 5 my amps on 5 my channels on 5.) And not have one maxed out and everything else turned down. Balance is the key to crisp clean sound.

i have asked this before the crossover is there any suggestions on where it should be set

i know it depends on the venue so do you suggest putting everything to zero when i set up and then adjust it
 
Yeah, until your comfortable enough to look at a room and know the settings I would start at zero every time and dial it in the "old fashioned" way. Once your experienced enough you'll be able to look at a room and know how to set up for it.

It can also be one of two other things.

1 Mixer gains too high, if the mixer preamp is a little aggressive you could back off the master attenuator a little if it has one as this can cause hiss.

2 Mic, either if you have built in effects, these can cause hiss sometimes (try turning it off) also you can sometimes get hiss on standard mic channels, try turning all mic channels off and see if the hiss is still there?

 
if you use a Laptop Run it on battery and see if it Stops. just unplug the Laptop and if it stops it a Power Pack thing. go store and get a ground loop 3 to 2 Plug Adapter like 1.00 each it works 100% and is sold at any Store

I had the same thing alway have 2- or 3 of them



 
i had a horrible hiss last night... it sounded like a ground loop but wasn't...

turned out just to be a bad XLR cable going out of djm800 mixer.

switch out cables and try... simple things can do it too!
