Topic: Anyone noticed inconsistencies in the Key/Camelot values?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Has anyone noticed inconsistencies in the Key/Camelot values being detected by vDJ ? Take an audio only and video version of the same song, or even the vocal vs. instrumental version of the same song. Does vDJ come up with the same Key value?

Can't believe no one has a comment on this. Where are my harmonic mixers ?

I believe this has been discussed in another thread.
While the keys may be different from another programs results or even from what a trained ear may hear it should still be consistant for mixing.
If the key is wrong it will be consistantly wrong meaning you should still be able to mix accordingly.

I think that is correct, I don't do much harmonic mixing, only occasionally do I consider it. But that is the explaination I read previously.
You may want to search the forum and find the recent threads on this topic.

Thanks TD but I think perhaps you misunderstand the question.

If you use vDJ 5.1 to analyze for example the clean version and the explicit version of the same song, does it result in the same Key? The songs are the same with only a curse word here and there as a difference, so I expect the resulting key to be exactly the same.

ah ha, I see what you mean. Sorry.
I was repeating what I had read previously. (kind of)

I don't use the new version of VDJ with the the key reader. I use "mixed in key" for key detection.
I had noticed the same thing, difference between keys of originals and remixes. Some were understandable, was a difference my untrained ear could hear, but some that sound the same to my ear still register different within the software. Wrote that off to my short-comings though.

Is there a difference in the bit rate on the tracks? I don't know how the algorythms work in the software, just thinking maybe the bitrate effects it. But that is an uneducated guess.
Maybe an educated user can help. Sorry to be of no help at all. : D

The Key detection in VDJ is very good but, not perfect. I have noticed one or two difference. It is still up to us, the DJs, to decide for ourselves if it is going to sound good or not.

No worries TD.

@ TearEmUp, I am making this observation based on comparison with something like Mixmeister.

I noticed the same behavior in MixMeister when I used it as well.....
