Topic: Problems with pitch on Virtual Vinyl

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I've posted asking for help in the hardware discussion, but realizing that not everyone checks that, I'm hoping for help here. I'm using American Audio CDI-500's, Virtual Vinyl, and a laptop with more than the minimum specs. I'm having an issue using timecode cds. I've tried adjusting the gain, I've tried using professional signal timecodes, I've done auto-config. Yet, when I adjust the pitch on my players so I can mix, I get digital "problems" like the signal is dropping out. Watching the timecode quality as I do this, the quality drops to coincide with the problem. Any suggestions?

What is your laptops specification , the more details the better.

i would advise you to set on config > performances latency to auto as a starting point.

It is set on Auto.

Gateway, Vista, Dual Core 1.63 GHz, 3GB Ram, 354MB dedicated video memory.

Could you please take a screen shot of your time code signal ?

It if it is large i would advise you to download the professional signal from this site.

Only problem with taking a screenshot, is that the quality drops and goes back and forth to 100%. I've tried using the professional signal as well, and that didn't change the problem.

I appreciate everyone's help on this. But when I called Numark today to try and work through the problem all at once, they told me that my players are probably the problem. I have American Audio CDI-500's, and apparently they aren't "professional" players. However, my Denon dual deck had some of the same problem, though not as bad. right now I'm weighing my options, because I don't have $1500 to drop on a pair of Pioneers. If anyone has another suggestion or a possible fix, I'm up to try it (because I would prefer to use something similar to VDJ), otherwise I'll have to look for another program or stay Analog.

burn the smaller cdj timecode signal on this website

check your VV inputs... make sure the box is lines (mine moves to phono somethings in a bag)

remember to constantly repeat the track (my signal is funky at 11 minutes.... i just turn it back and i get signal again)

I am more interested to see the waveform if you could take a shot of this that would be great.

I dont think that those players are ideal but it should not be a problem if we can get your signal correct.

Like Skyfxl said those players should work. I dont know how familiar you are with VirtualDJ/Cue but when using timecode its not a simple plug in and play setup. I am not bad mouthing the software at all so dont take me wrong but it takes alot of tweaks and troubleshooting to get everything set just right. Once you do have things set right your good to go. I wouldnt go out and buy any other equipment just yet.

Simon, I will work at getting the screen shot of the waveform.

As for the box, it's on line input, and I've used the smaller professional signal from the site, and it doesn't change the problem.

I realize that timecode is not simply a plug and play, but I've adjusted everything that I've been suggested to adjust, and I've done auto configs, done config setups as suggested in other parts of the forum for people who had problems. After messing with it for so long I called Numark in the US to get help, and Matthew pretty much told me it was my players. Considering the system working on my friend's Pioneers, I'm tempted to believe him.

Ok... I was having problems getting this whole BB Code to work, because when I clicked the + sign it went minus, but nothing showed up below it. Anyway, here is a link to a picture of the timecode quality and waveform. Again, the biggest problem for this happens when I am changing the pitch. I have tempo lock OFF and only the pitch slider is on.

There you go PearlEx97

By the look of it to me, it looks like you have a slightly to "loud" timecode signal, also try the timecode with the Software RIAA Preamp option checked. I've had a problem with signals fluctrurating when I first set up my timecodes (TCV) till I checked that.

Original timecode with preamp checked

And finally timecode with professional signal

Well my suggestion, didn't really work for you mate

So... any new ideas?? Only other idea I've received so far was the clean the RCA plugs of my players. That didn't fix it either.

First thing that you have to know: "Software RIAA preamp" is only for vinyls. In clear, understand it like the difference between Phono and Line.

So with the CD, you have to uncheck it.

Then I would say to verify the USB transfert with the tool "DPC Latency Checker" ©Thesycon
http://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml

=> disable internal webcam, ethernet, wireless

Will be checking the USB transfer tonight.

As for the others, the checking of the preamp, was just an attempt to fix this problem. When the problem first arrived and other than the one attempt to fix it, it's been unchecked.

Webcam, ethernet, wireless are all off.

Ok, so here's a new one for you all. As you can see I've had multiple problems getting Virtual Vinyl to work right.
So I borrowed my buddies Serato box to do a mixshow for a local radio station. After I was done with the mixing, just for the heck of it, I opened Virtual Vinyl to see if Serato would control Virtual Vinyl. As stated in other parts of the forum I knew it was supposed to, but considering my problems I wondered.

Not only did it control the program, the problem I've had since day one that I haven't been able to fix, was no problem. The program worked great, like it was supposed to. From that would it be possible to deduce that the problem was within the Virtual Vinyl box?

Your thoughts are appreciated.
