Topic: Has anybody used mp3gain - Page: 2

A note of advice for anyone else regarding MP3Gain and fragmentation: assuming you're using the GUI, there's an option to not use temporary files (options, advanced). If you do so, modifications are made in place rather than in a new file and then deleting the original file automatically. Although files can get corrupted in the event of power loss.

All sorted now, think I panic there for a sec.

LOL, my geordie mate quite welcome down here anytime, but I've drank all my beer the other night.

You know Jimmy, there are these things called S-T-O-R-E-S and the sell beer to people when they run out. I frequent one or two myself, usually very nice people in them.....if you get there early enough.

I may have to visit one of these stores sometime soon then............................. lol

any of you try this yet? Platinum Notes - some of the others have been rating it highly... I have used mp3gain and find it ok but I think by the sounds of it this package will enhance the sound of an existing file as well as normalise. I don't know if it affects the cue points, etc or not but perhaps someone can confirm that here...

So Jimmy,
Mp3gain is the way to go?
I had some problems with clipping earlier

Can you share us your mp3gain config?

Yeah, I've been using it know for 4 months now and it sorted out some volume problems I was having with "older" mp3's

All I've done is left everything in mp3gain software as standard but raised the Target "Normal" Volume to 92.0db and everything seems fine.

All my files play nice a sweet now, with no volume problems. But remember once you've have used mp3gain and your files/folder make sure you do a defrag straight after.

what about the clipping of tracks? - i used to do mp3gain but couldn't get everything sorted because tracks kept clipping

Jimmy do you have the "don't clip when doing track gain" Checked?

I tried it once, and did not like the results. I ended up undoing everything and mixing the old fashioned way....but when your my age..using stone tables as records still feels right....
