anyway to put a change in the registry to get rid of it ???
how about all those system tools where the box only has the ? and the x ? anyway to put a minimize button on them ??

Stupid Dialog Box: I think you only get this if your logged in as an Administrator.
anyway to put a change in the registry to get rid of it ???: I'm not sure about that but leaving your PC switched off will stop the dialog showing.
"anyway to put a minimize button on them": No but you can use the show desktop icon or use the "Windows" key and "Tab" to switch between windows.

The stupid dialogue box is a result of user account control on vista.
To turn this off go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control on or off, untick the box.
One thing to note when doing this, if you only have the default account you created when installing Vista you will lose write access to the temp folder so you would be best off creating a second account and making it a member of the local administrators group.
Not sure on your minimize button although if this affects every window its likely not an individual application issue.

thanks gents ......i use alt + tab .......
i actually sorta have 3 ? desktops ...... the one you see with my naughty wallpaper , and a buncha widgets ...... then there\'s the heads up widget view page , whatever that is ? and then there\'s click the desktop button on my vertical taskbar ......
i try to be really organized and have some cool factor on the desktop , cuz i end up with strippers and customers looking over my shoulder .....
i use "the pusher " an on/off button ......one click launches VDJ (on) anudder click launches FireFox (off ) , i use "Drop Mover" to aggregate shortcuts into one cool looking location .....i think it can acomodate a total of 38 shortcuts on it's buttons .....it launches and goes into scrolling pic mode... i use "picture frame" for more scrolling pics .....i have a weather channel widget , i use eleeno g which is a software implementation of a tokyoflash watch of the same name ........ i have reboot , which , uuuhhhh reboots (one click) , there's lockdown ,which actually does not lockdown the computer (there are widgets that do ) but it invokes a picture that covers all that knottiness on the main screen ....'course in my case that's a drop dead blonde in a microkini/dental floss ....as close to vanilla as i ever get ...... i use cpu meter which monitors % of cpu usage ....when you get a heavy cpu load the graph switches color to red kinda tachometer (redline) style .....the dock for the widgets has a button that launches a yahoo search bar .....i have a one click to wikipedia , cuz i wanna know what's it all about alfie .......and i have a sticky notes i write the current rotation of the strippers on and who's in the vip .......and last and certainly least , a volume widget for the system volume .....i use a proper dj soundcard ...... so the system volume is for Microsoft Sam , who says the darndest things , some of which Art Linkletter wouldn't approve of
what's a proper dj soundcard , Chuck ?? listen up , grasshopper ..... a proper dj soundcard sounds AWESOME , not ok , not acceptable ...that's not good enough ....also , it has 3 or preferably 5 , outputs .......
