hello All, Ok, so I need some advice.
Currently I have a Macbook Pro 2.0, 2Gig Ram, Core Duo, 128meg Video Card. 320 Gig Hard Drive. I am now using Ableton Live to DJ my club gigs. I am trying to get into more of Virtual DJ. I wanted to use
Virtual DJ, but my music Library on my laptop is so large that I would need to store and play my Video's off an external Hard Drive. Being my Macbook Pro is one of the 1st generations, it does not have the Firewire 800 port. I would have to load my video's through USB 2.0 or Firewire 400. My question is, what is the best way to play music Videos off an external. I was thinking about upgrading my laptop to a Macbook pro, Core 2 Duo, 256 or 512 meg Video Card with the Firewire 800 Port Available. Would that be the right choice? Or should I move my Entire Music Library off to an Extenal HD, then keep just my video's on the Laptop Hard Drive? I Just want to start mixing video's to increase my marketability, but I am at a stand still here trying to figure out what to do. Or should I get a Firewire 800 Express /34 Card and use the side port. Then would the buss speed be fast enough for it? Not saying cost is an issue, but I want a stable system, without to many add ons for Video's to be used with Virtual DJ. has anyone used any of the configurations above. Is my 128 Meg Video Card enough for Virtual DJ, or should I just upgrade my whole machine?

OR, should I get an Express/34 esata card, for my externals, which have esata hookups?
