Are you going to be DJ'ing traditionally with CD's? If so the only thing I would suggest for easier set up and tear down would be Powered Speakers rather than non.
If you're going to use VDJ with your set-up, then you have a few things you don;t need.
For a Rack VDJ sys I'd suggest:
1) Desktop PC in a 4U Rack mount Case (for vid cards)
2) Rackmounted DJ mixer - of your choice
3) USB controller - either Numark DMC2 or Denon 4500 or DAC 3 or a DAC2 if you can find one.
4) this is important - Trackball mouse - you don;t want to screw with a mouse all night
5) Small form keyboard. - I place my trackball and keyboard right on my rack case section that sticks out from the DJ capsule. You'll find that rack cases for computers are longer than for amps and such so I just removed the rack ears from the very front and moved them about 1/3 of the way up and bolted them to the case. It can then be bolted into the rack.

I should have mentioned the componets I already have, Dell laptop, Herc. RMX & a Vestax DSM410 19" mixer. I mainly use cd's as backup & the event that someone has a cd they want played, but I want to add karaoke players so I can offer B.Y.O.K. (bring your own karaoke) services until I can afford to build my own karaoke collection. I definatly want to upgrade my pc to a rackmount & upgrade my VDJ controller to the hc4500, but since I'm on a $1800 budget those will have to wait for my business loan at a later date. I thought about getting powered speakers, but I can't seem to find as much wattage for the price and I wouldn't have as flexible of options that way either. What I was planning on doing was mounting the mixer, karaoke decks & power amp in the slant rack and then using my laptop stand to fix it above the slant rack, I'd probably just setup the RMX next to the rack.
I'd like to know from people though concerning the power amp & karaoke decks on whether or not there's anything better for the money, I expect probably not but ya never know either what I may have looked over;^]

Monster cables are nice Timmy and have the lifetime warranty but, they are too much cost. Google search the same type of cables and you'll still get the warranty and pay less money.

I've been thinking about that too, total cable cost in this package is about $220. I chose monster because I want to make sure I have the longest lasting, but also to have the best possible sound quality from my equipment. Can you recommend a cheaper brand without sacrificing quality? It would be nice to be able to add a sonic maximiser in the package. Thanks;^]

I use mostly Mogami and Blue cables.....or get them custom made too fit my rack, or make them myself....
