What's up VDJ nation? So i have to say i'm feeling a little disappointed. I bought some new equipment a couple weeks ago (Denon HC-4500 and Denon X-500 mixer) and something isn't making sense to me. I can't use the equipment to record like I used to when I had DJC and Numark Total Control. The software doesn't recognize anything i do with the mixer. I had to use the headphone option to make it work. People suggested using the line out, but i had zero success. The mapper has allowed it to recognize the crossfader...but now I can't cue any tracks up, which makes no sense whatsoever.
Then I committed the sin of trying the trial version of PCDJ Reflex that came with the Denon package and it recognizes everything. Now I am aware that PCDJ and Denon have some deal hooked up that could explain why I'm having that kind of success. However, I don't like the program very much anyway. I only like the fact that it works with my mixer the way it should.
Bottom line...VDJ is the best!!! I've used it for years and it works perfectly the way I like it. I would love it even more if we can find a way to fix this glitch and have the Denon X-500 work in sync with the internal software mixer. I'm not asking too much am I? The HC-4500 works just fine. Now let's see if we can take care of the X-500 and X-900 mixer...

What sound card settings are you using in VDJ? My understanding is that you should be using External Mixer, which means the X-Control will allow the crossfader to work in VDJ, but all other mixer functions will work exactly as they should on the mixer itself.
If you want to record your mix, take it from a line output from the X-500. This is after all doing the mixing and EQing - in fact, the X-500 has a connection on the back specifically labelled "Rec Out" ;)

NrgPlyr,
What happens when you change the crossfader to "Disable" under Virtual DJ config/options? This is how I use my external mixer (not a Denon Mixer) with Virtual DJ. What it does is, each Virtual DJ deck is sent its separate channel on the mixer at full volume regardless of where the Virtual DJ crossfader is. I hope this helps.
