Topic: Re-Mixing?

I send tech support a message, they refused help, and sent me here.
Ho do I create a re-mix from an MP3?
Thanks in advance. I hope you are more helpful.

A remix or a mix?

A remix you usually need the acapella version of the song, and make your own beats...
Either by real instruments, or in software like Cubabis, Reason, Ableton etc

A re-mix.
For example, I want to take a Depeche Mode song, and put my own spin on it.

best way would be to get the acappella (voice only version) of the Depeche Mode .. and then use either some sound beats (drum, kick, instruments), or a instrumental song (music only) and either use as is (will be a mash-up), or cut up the instrumental and use parts (remix)

Hope that helps ;)

I tried using CUE to do some remix but i only get a simple result, e.g reduced the original bass and put a new different sounding beats or sound effects.

Sound Forge is for me the best so far tool in doing remixing. U can do what ever u want in the track. I use to play all my remixes on live gigs and most people ask (esp. djs) where did i get those tracks, then i said, from my computer... but i think it's illegal to do a remix, right? Pardon me if i'm wrong...

I think it's a bit of a grey area as I think a lot of artists would be flattered if their music was sought after because of a remix you'd done.
However I would say it's illegal if you attempt to profit from it without paying the artists, and if you distributed without their permission even for free.

Why would you even think TECH support could guide someone on how to create a re-mix?

I could understand actual TECH questions like... why is the software I purchased not working?
But how to create something? odd...

Google is your best friend for general questions like that... even vague ones like yours.

Thanks Al
We also have a specific forum for Mix Lessons.
