I was asked to do a party and they want a monitor with a slide show of pictures. Is it possible to have an external monitor connected to my laptop and have that monitor show the pictures in the slideshow (in full screen), and have my laptop only view the VDJ software?

Thanks for any assistance.

Yes, it is, do it all the time.

Use the slideshow plugin, or better yet, use SBDJ_slideshow plugin available on the downloadable plugins page.

So once i have the plugin working how to I split the screens?

Thanks

your laptop needs to have a second video output (usually s-video). Most of them do nowdays. Connect the s-video output to the external tv and it is on BEFORE you turn on the computer so the computer will find the TV. Go into the setup program for your video card (if it's nvidia it will be called the "NVIDIA Control Panel). Used the advanced mode, find the "Multi Display Setup" and follow instructions. Make sure you set it for the laptop as your "primary display" (where you want your windows to show up normally) and the TV as your "secondary" or "full screen" display". I would reboot the computer at that point (not sure if you have to I just like to do it to be sure the settings are saved).

When you open VDJ in the config/settings go to the video tab and select the "activate" check box and in the drop down window your video card should be listed, select it, go to the plug-in section and select the slide show, set it up the way you want (select the folder where you stored your slides, set the speed rate, etc.), close out VDJ, reboot the computer.

Thanks for your replies I will give it a shot.
