Please can someone tell me if there is tagging software of which you can alter a group of tags at the same time ie: if i want to place remarks in the comments section or remove them in batch.

I use www.mp3tag.de it is great and I use it all the time. It does case convertion and fixes the filename as well as the tags.

I triple that notion. I've used Tag & Rename for years, and it just keeps getting better with every release. For those curious about all the hub-bub click here.
