Topic: How To Use VDJ and Pioneer DJM800?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

in my quest to try and convince an old schooler to convert to VDJ he asked "do I still need a soundcard to use timecode cds with cdj 1000s and my djm 800?"

I let him use my system, with me there showing him the software, last week at the New Orleans Saints tailgate party near the Superdome and he liked it. Hopefully I will have him converted by the end of the year. LOL He wants to use timecodes because he likes to scratch. I love my vci-100 and its perfect for me because I don't scratch.

I'm just trying to get answers to his questions so hopefully we can add him to the VDJ mobile jock family. :)

I use the Pioneer DJM 800. Midi mappable and I can use a combination of vdj and onboard effects which is great. I have midi settings for sync, clone, start stop A B, sample start stop, effect start stop and vol, loop in loop out. I only wish it had a rotary knob so that I could use it to scroll through tracks. I've also used the cdj 400's which were excellent in selecting tracks and being midi mappable. Also no particular soundcard is needed for timecode as they are connected to computer via usb. I can say that VDJ seems quite easy to set the midi presets for.

As for the cdj 1000 with timecode. You will need a soundcard with dedicated in/outs. So you will need 2 dedicated inputs to accept the timecode signal from the decks. Then you will need an additional 2 dedicated outputs to send the audio signal from VDJ deck 1 and 2 out to the inputs in the djm800. There is a wealth of information on the boards about good sound cards for timecode depending on your set up. Some brands recommended are M-Audio, Maya.

Best of luck,

BISH

Thanks for the replies! I will pass them along to my friend. I use the M Audio Connectiv and haven't had a lick of trouble with it.
