AVG free is really good and it is free, also get spybot to get rid of malware, adware, etc.

Both are free and both are great

im ganna have to hit that up...hehehehe..my license for norton expires in two dayz....

shoot norton in the head... i mean the software and not the guy

thats what im ganna end up doin..ADIOS norton..hello agv

sometimes too many anti virus programs might interfere with each other. I would just pick one you like and go with it. I use NOD32 i have also heard great things about kaspersky.

Norton is so bloated, NOD32 has brilliant detection and is light on resources (particularly version 2.7). If you need additional security (i.e. an upgrade from Windows Firewall), then ESET Smart Security (same company as NOD32) is worth investing in.

Some of the AV programs now, well detect if you have another AV running on your system on the installation, and ask you to remove your old AV first.

wtfj1n..

You really need to purchase the software.

fenderisc...
THATS F**KED UP!!!
Sorry for ya dude.
Good Luck.

AVG free is OK but i doesnt protect you from everything.. It is limited... It doesnt block everything. The reason why i use Windows live one care... AVG Free couldnt remove what i had in my computer. Use one virus protection only.... If you look into AVG.. Check out the comparison between free and The pay version.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought my ex-wife was in town.....sorry about the virus dude...for a good one time app you can run Stinger by Macafee

thnxxxx for the advice tearemup,i keep this one for future use....by the way, stinger doesnt work with ex-wives i guess.I have an issue too

People, I am in computer business and I fight with viruses almost every day. NOD32 will not find a lot of threats, Kaspersky is good but it will kill your machine same as Norton does. For AVG I have no comment, total S*it!
I use AVAST antivirus which is excellent in cleaning and it is low on resources:
www.avast.com
Now, that is not enough as Avast is antivirus, you need another program to protect you from Trojans, Advertising etc. That program is free and its name is SpyBot - Search and Destroy. It has excellent online component named "Tea Timer" which records every registry change (this solves more than 50% of the problems as no malware can work if it's not written in the registry.) Only downside is that it has no automatic update, so you need to remember to do an update once a week.

Hope this helps.
On the topic, no man or woman stick their flash memory near my machine - that is a dangerous thing to do ;)

I would suggest using ESET NOD32. It's particularly good on the performance front. I started using it after AVG missed a virus or two. Check out their site. When you see how many viruses their product caught that AVG missed you'll never use it again. http://www.eset.com/products/compare-NOD32-vs-competition.php

On that note I've seen a lot of people out there say that you don't play requests. I think in this particular case that's the way to go. If it's not your song, don't spin it.

it's funny how some people like different programs then others for whatever reasons. Either way some protection is better then none. It's really whatever one you seem to work good.

L2, are you saying its like Coke or Pepsi? Or, in this case, Trojan VS Durex? ;-)

Not true in my case, I use or sell only stuff that are good. I was using Nod32 and it does not detect anything and machines went infected. Then I tried Avast in August this year and never look back ;) The best antivirus program I have ever used!
If you think your antivirus is good, give him a few months of online everyday work, then install Avast and scan and see what is a real antivirus program :)

I 100% agree. Also I recommend PC Tools Spyware Doctor.
When you are ready to run VDJ use ProcessXP to shut off all the background programs running in the backgrount that interfere with VDJ.
You can also temporarily disable Nod32 and Spyware doctor before you DJ.

Nod32 will catch and protect you from Viruses and Trojans if you configure the program correctly.

I don't recommend Spyware Doctor also, have used it before but it is not that good anymore. Use Spybot instead.

Not for nothing, but I can not believe you actually played something, anything, that some one gave you. I am like the DJ from hell, "I'm sorry, but if I don't have it, the party will not die." I do not allow anyone to bring in any music, I don't care what form it is in. I use Zone-alarm, and sometimes it will start scanning while I'm playing. No problems, but then again, I don't use wimpy laptops. I guess you missed that talk about using condoms.

the only thing i would let them get thru is CDS...now that thru my laptop my AV is no longer in use and my Desktop has two weeks..
