what's up vdj peeps? I use vdj to scratch videos from time to time, but I mostly use torq for my performances, I wanted to share with you a video I made using some of the cool features in the new Torq 1.5, this video demonstrates the new midi beat clock, Timecode vinyl, and external sync with Ableton Live 7:

when will vdj implement midi beat clock? when will Torq implement video mixing? It's a race to be the all-inclusive DVS! GO!

A user is currently working on creating a plugin for this you can learn more in the plugins forum.
Judging on the fact it took a year and a half to reach 1.5 I would not expect video from torq in the near future.
My self I have been unable to get the sync feature working in Torq without a crash unfortunately.
At the end of the day each one has its merits you need to make your choice based on what you prefer.

are you using midi yoke when you try this? have you tried a standard midi cable? link to that plugin info? it would be cool if vdj made a plugin for ableton.

I've produced a rudimentary MIDI beat clock plugin for Virtual DJ and I have tested and had it working in conjunction with Resolume :)
It's also capable of outputting other MIDI data, that can then be mapped to functions in other programs - such as sending data when events occur and so on.
The plugin is not currently available publically as yet however.
I have Torq 1.5, but it just doesn't do it for me. The screen is too cluttered and the BPM engine was crap (I can't use a specific tuning range due to varied styles). I did like a few features - namely Tempo Anchors and zplane. Other than that, I can't think of much it has now that VDJ doesn't? Judging by the reports on 1.5s bugs, I wouldn't be wishing M-Audio to implement video support yet.
I've actually wondered about zplane as a plugin. Obviously there is a cost associated with this though, and I'd rather it was natively supported.

I have a girlbot that makes me breakfast, but it's not done yet either

Mine actually works though. Thanks for the constructive input though.

please post a video of your plugin in action. I would be happy to test while still in development, and promote when finished.
Peace to you SBDJ.

I'll post up some screenshots tomorrow when I've got my development machine out
I'm afraid as with all my other plugins, this will only be available to registered users when released. A beta might be tested by a few trusted people.

Not as yet, haven't had time I'm afraid. Had to port some video transitions to the Mac platform, working on ScrollText, work today, work tonight... you know how it is.
I'll try and get some up as soon as possible though.

I have to handle it to you. Virtual Dj is awesome. People keep building plug ins, effects and skins, this piece of software is never going to be out dated. I have never regret buying Virtualdj. Besides my son and wife Vdj is one of the things I love the most, and thats that.

A quick screenshot. There really isn\'t much to look at though. One deck has a track loaded on it, playing at 128 bpm. A utility called clockdetect has detected a clock start message, followed by the MIDI clock signal. This signal tracks the BPM of the active deck.

thats sexier than my girlbot, especially if you implement the smoothing feature!
Inviato Fri 06 Feb 09 @ 10:33 am
can you also include a way to cut the beat clock signal in half so you can spin a drum and bass record at 165bpm but have ableton play at 87.5bpm?
Inviato Sat 07 Feb 09 @ 3:43 pm
Piece of cake... double, half, no problem... :)
