"piece of cake" tell that to the torq coders

Hopefully M-Audio are on top of things, although I must admit I've not seen much in the way of communication or promises from them on the situation with 1.5. They've announced 1.5.1 for the end of Q1; thats the end of next month and I would imagine they have their work cut out. I can only hope they get their act together; competition is great for us end users :)

sbdj, have you made any custom skins for vdj? This is something I was thinking about playing with, but I'm intimidated. what program would you reccomend for modifying an existing skin?
Inviato Tue 10 Feb 09 @ 1:31 pm
I have made a few skins since I like nice minimalistic skins at 1920x1200.
Registered users can get a skin designer and skin resizer for VirtualDJ.
I usually just use Paint (or Paint.Net) and notepad...

that's a pretty high resolution, do you play out with a desktop?
Inviato Wed 11 Feb 09 @ 7:21 pm
Nope, my primary and backup laptops use 1920x1200. My others are limited to 1680x1050.
Gives me plenty of screen estate :)

yeah, that's a lot of room to work with. Does your laptop's lcd display those resolutions? or are you hooking an external monitor up to it?
Inviato Thu 12 Feb 09 @ 9:45 am
Yup, the laptop LCD supports that resolution :)
Inviato Thu 12 Feb 09 @ 12:16 pm
what kind of laptop?
Inviato Thu 12 Feb 09 @ 3:03 pm
Dell XPS M1730

wow dude, that thing is a beast. How much you pay? I picked up my inspiron used for $350.00

I did go a bit overboard on the spec, but figured if I was going to buy a new laptop I might as well spec the best I could. Paid about £3000 IIRC.

vdj is a very very powerful program that can do everything (or can do everything) that any other software can do.
but in my humble opinion u just took one big sh1t right in the middle of this forum with that youtube video. what u need to do is take that sh1t to serato forum coz thats where u'd find ppl are serious on that sh1t. even there im sure u'll take that a sh1t on them too.
then if i were u i'd go to a technic 1200 site and do the same. coz u know the technics ppl just dont think djing is possible without technics.
m-audio and native instruments are no joke. all other programs gonna have watch out for torq and traktor coz its only a matter of time. m-audio make good products hardware wise. ive peeped their website and they get a seal of approval. native instruments... theyr germans. enuff said. u cant top german engineering. (cant wait for the maschine to completely sh1t on the mpc)
im happy to see my fellow numark ppl doing big things but... overall i think vdj is still better than torq. i float on this forum and many other forums and vdj users dont seem that serious into turntablism, remixing and production.
well u know what... i take that back. i wouldnt give an opinion of which software is more badass than the other.
m-audio, native instruments, ableton* are opening up djing into production (mpd, native production software)
each of the dj softwares have their own advantage over the others.
traktor won top dj software in namm 2008. torq, serato were nominated. that list didnt make sense that vdj wasnt mentioned.
but it all comes down to the dj. coz there's some badass who uses pinky or whatever that thing is called that can take a lot of ppl using torq or serato or vdj out.
