How often do you use the Fix, Check, and Clean on your databases?
Did you recently add any new files or folders to your collection that have foreign characters in the name of the file/folder?

On the Info tab in the there is a Reset to Default Settings. You can start there and reconfigure VirtualDJ.
What soundcard are you using? The Mk2 or something else? Did you by chance change the Performance settings? If so, make sure Latency is Auto, Safemode and Overclock are UNCHECKED.

Well in most cases depending on the the Wifi cards of the machine they are known to create latency issues and therefore the pops, crackles, and/or degraded sound performance. This goes for Bluetooth as well. Specially if the connection is just sitting idle and not actively passing data like when broadcasting.
If the issue stops when you turn off the Wifi then I would think you have found the underlining problem.

Run this useful tool

Basically, any red spikes and you have latency problems.
