i have alot few red bars the software said to disable and reenable the wi-fi card and sound cards and usb ports

my device manager shows that i have several USB ports when I only have 3 is this correct

I don't think you should disable your USB ports, it's not advisable.

You could disable you internal Soundcard, if you use your mk2 at gigs.

Also worth disabling, any internal modems, Optical Drive (CD/DVD drive) and any integrated webcams which my be installed.

I’m not sure some things are really to blame here ….

In the pub where I last worked, my 4 year old Sony Vaio Z1SP laptop had 2 wifi connections running simultaneously (one to the pub internet wifi and the other to RDP my remote Vaio U70 handheld) and also a bluetooth connection to my P990i so I could remotely control my phone from the PC screen.

In addition to this, the laptop was running 2 concurrent XP sessions (one for the main laptop and one for the remote) and each session was running a separate session of VDJ with individual skins, settings etc.

That was all done using 1gb RAM and I never had any glitches or problems at all using VDJ for music only. I could control the main session from the screen and DN-HC4500, but if I walked around I could remote control the other session from the touchscreen.

I find it amazing that people have so many problems but things seem to work well for me, even pushing the boundaries compared to most users

Keith -- I agree with your assessment that it can vary from user to user. And, your setup seems to be one of the lucky ones.

Computers these days are very much like people because there are so many variants/variables that can influence how one machine acts in comparison to another - just like people. You can have 10 identical systems built from the same components and there will be unique nuances found in each one. Anybody that has working in manufacturing will tell you that even though there are very strict designs of a product the determining factor of if they pass inspection is based on 'tolerances' not on exact spec values being met.

So though I sympathize with those that run into these 'tolerance' limits and then have to 'disable' or completely change their hardware to something more within the tolerance limit, it is the unfortunate game we all face with computers these days. It is also why we (and others) are very cautious and leery to say 'this works better than this'. It is just to risky to do and by the time we say it; the product might be discontinued and replaced with something else which blows out the tolerance.

I have found that people inadvertently tweak with settings (esp. in Windows) and screw things up without realising it. Registry changes, disabling services etc.

I feel when using new DJ software for the first time it should be installed on a "fresh" PC. If possible it's better to install XP or Vista fresh from Microsoft rather than the version supplied with the PC which is usually full of vendor supplied crap.

conacted SONY they told me to reset the BIOS and if this does not stop the crackling when I turn on and off the wireless I would have to send it in

Any thoughts on this
