Hey guys, when I place a some tunes in the playlist area and choose the automatic mixing, VDJ beatmatches all tunes in the list, what I'd like to know please is if I can have the next tune on deck start "before" the existing song is finished in any way? Reason for this, I have different tunes with different lengths and some of them are quite long especially the 70s disco 12" versions so for those long tunes, any way I can manually have the next tune start at any point before the existing tune is finished and still have it beatmatched just as if the next tune up were to be beatmatched at the end of outgoing tune?

I would be willing to bet that there is some scripting that you can add to the .xml definition file, but that is a bit above my head......I'm sure others will chime in...Look for a guy on the forum by name of "Synthet1c," he is my "go to script guy"...I'm sure he'll get a laugh seeing my recommendation.......Was thinking, if it is an issue with you having to step out from behind the decks for whatever reason, have you looked into the option of controlling the interface via iPhone?....I'm not familiar with it, but I have seen some info on that within the site....Good luck. Keep us posted with the solution... =D

While the playlist is running, if you right-click on the song you want next and select "mix now", it should mix straight into it.

Well, I am not a hard core DJ by any means like you pro's and that is why I purchase VDJ becuase of it's automatic beatmatching feature and no other reason really so I never stand at the pc playing one song after another, I simply wanted something to entertain myself and the guys while we're hanging out so this is not for commercial purposes, it's only from home entertaining. An iphone option would be even better becuase that would mean I wouldn't have to walk to the rig to trigger the next tune pre-maturely, I could do that from wherever I an standing in the room, that would be great but for now since I don't have an iphone it would be no problem for me to walk to the rig.
When you say "script", does this mean that person can write a script telling the software when to beatmatch into the next tune? If that is the case, I will pay anyone for that feature if they can have ALL tunes in the list beatmatch at around 3 minutes, what do you think?

Oh thanks, sorry I did not see your post, I think i was posting that the same time, ok, will try that and get back to you but the script idea mentioned would work great for me if it can be done.

Charlie
you go either walk to your rig and right click next tune or and this would probably be a pain in the arse but you could use audacity to edit ALL your tracks to length
I actually use the right click method but then I play at a gentlemens club and confined to my booth.

It sounds like the sort of thing that could probably be done with some scripting, however I'm only a part-time vdj script-dabbler!

Damn, I did not use VDJ for a while and now forgot how to engage the autobeatmatching, how/where can i view all of my past threads on this from please so i can go re-read the questions I had asked in the past concerning autobeatmatching?

go into your configuration settings for VDJ and under the options tab on the lower right look for the automix crossfader length slider - you can adjust length of crossfade there.

right click automix playlist management for this menu and find the type of automix you want.

fiddle around with the settings till you find the combination you are most comfortable with.

Thanks but I selected the smart option in the Playlist Management option and my playlist is not autobeatmatching?

please see my settings, can\'t figure out why my playlist is not autobeatmatching? The Disable/enable autobeatmatching icon is highlighted color \"green\". The Automix type is :Smart [will be:fade]

Thank you very much, I will defitnitely look into that but first I have to solve this problem why the playlist is not autobeatmatching, any idea please?

have you actually turned on automix? it will load two waveforms on the one deck. to enable it press the circle button to the top right of the playlist area and it will turn green or you can use the keyboard shortcut [ctrl + spacebar]
If you want the automix to happen over two decks you can map "automix_dualdeck" to a key on your keyboard but this is depreciated and has not been supported for many years as most prefer the current method of using only one deck leaving the other free to take over mixing again. Other than that I don't know as I never use automix ;-)

Yes, I think I have automix turned on as mentioned in my earlier post:
The Disable/enable autobeatmatching icon is highlighted color \"green\". The Automix type is :Smart [will be:fade]
on my interface it's the circle above the Playlist Management icon on the top left of the playlist? So if all is correct on my end then I am wondering if this is the problem? "The Automix type is :Smart [will be:fade]
whay is that showing as "will be fade"?

Either because the grids (dots in waveform) are not on beat, or the selected pitch range is smaller than the bpm difference between the songs in your playlist.
Its the same like pressing the SYNC button. Load those 2 songs on the decks, and see if they sync each other using the SYNC button.
Inviato Thu 26 Jul 12 @ 10:02 pm
Thanks but no, it is not that, also all of my tunes in the playlist are within 2-3 BPM differential in order meaning the tunes look like this in order of bpm values, 120, 120, 123, 124 124, 126 e.t.c so betamtaching should definitely not be an issue here?

Open the EDIT BPM Window on a couple of songs and go to the third tab.
On the bottom of the tab there's an option for BeatMatch Mixing.
Make sure that this checkboc is checked for all the songs.
Now load this songs on your playlist window and enable Smart Automix...
If the BPM values are in range you should see that Automix does a beatmach...
PS: On the above window you can also set intro and outro points for the beatmach mixing if you wish (per track)

Ok, 2 things please:
1] I am not seeing where to open the "Edit BPM button"? I am onlly seeing the option to right click on the bpm tab in the middle pane?
2] How can i view all of my past threads or post on this forum please? I know I had asked for help in the past specifically for the autobeatmatch function so I would like to re-read that thread please to see if I am missing something here?
