1. All capacitors will leave current to "pass" from their circuit until they charge. That's the main reason of "pops" as you call it. Also ALL capacitors will START to charge at the same very moment you press the power button. That causes a "momentary power spike" in the power circuits of the unit. Until all capacitors reach their "normal" state (this is when all capacitors reach their charging capacity and close the circuit) "undesired" current will travel inside the unit and it may reach it's outputs.

2. Yes, all modern amps have relays on their exits to prevent power spikes to reach the speakers (especially when you close the amp and it's capacitors discharge back on the main circuit)

3. Been a little more cautious didn't hurt anybody, even if it's not needed! :P

my amps probably aren't good ones then ...old peavey's circa 2000

any way each year i allow myself ONE mistake ....so ... don't go holding your

breath 'til the next one .....

if you are outputting to the mixer , the mixer faders and mains have some level

and then you turn on the mixer and the amps are on ....?

yes, you could blow speakers or blast people outta there chairs ......

what does that have to do with VDJ ????

if the car is started and you floor the accelerator do you get mad at the car for moving ?

if you are the one who set things in motion , how can the blame lie elsewhere ?

Look, it's simple... turn on your mixer and boot up VDJ, then turn on your amps/speakers, then start playing music with the volume on the mixer at 0 and turn up the volume/gains/channel volume until it sounds right.

Not that sure it's that simple for many! I utilize VDJ, a Denon MC6K controller, & QSC K12s. So basically you have the master volume on VDJ, the individual gains for each channel on the Denon, the master on Denon & the volume control on the QSCs.

After reading the forums for VDJ, Denon, & QSC, the consensus was that everything should be at the 12pm level, but for some reason, after applying all that advice, I wasn't happy with the sound.

I called Denon and talked to a great support person; he told me how to stage my individual gains first and then adjust the master level on the Denon. This was regardless of where the master was at for VDJ. I was always looking at the master and not each individual channel.

First he told me to load the same song in both VDJ decks with the Denon master turned all the way to 0 along with the channel faders all the way down. Then make sure I'm looking at the channel level meter & play the song and see where the channel level is at, should be no more than +3 or +6 DB, adjust the individual gains as needed. When individual gains are set, take one of the channel faders and max it out. Then turn up the master until the master level meter is not above +3 or +6 DB and now you have staged your individual gains and master. If the VDJ master is turned down, your gains will just be higher. So basically, it really doesn't matter where VDJ's master is at.

I end up putting the QSC's volume at 12pm and everything seems to work great. If I need more sound, I'll adjust he QSC's volume.

I tried updating the file .xml file under skins but they are compressed - I surely would like to take control of how the master volume, bass, treble, and mid are set at startup - anyone have a working solution please.
